Bring him up after the chemo is done. Still some number 40 and 13 sized cancers to be removed first.

C'mon give Backlund someone more skilled then Jackman on his wing...
Tanguay - Stajan - Cammy
Hudler - Backlund - Cervenka
Glencross - Horak - Stempniak
Comeau - Begin - Jackman
... Let Sven finish out the year playing meaningful minutes in Abbotsford. If we trade a few more forwards sure then bring him up since if we drain the teams depth he'll get ice time and some quality forwards (such as they are) to play with.

Leave him until after the trade deadline then decide.
Don't bring him into this madness right now.

I think he's better in a Flames environment with Hartley's run and gun style as long as he gets meaningful minutes. He's struggling with Abby right now. 4pts in 7 games. Only had points in 2 out of 7 of those games. The Heat are also losing like crazy lately. I don't think he's in a position to succeed staying in the AHL.

Did playing 10 games (and scratched for a bunch) use up a year of Sven's entry level contract?

Turning pro starts his ELC - that means as soon as he joined the Heat.

keep him away from this team. not a good/healthy environment simply cause there is so much speculation, the teams going nowhere, etc.
let him play down in the A, put up points, gain confidence, grow with some young guys, then bring him up next year with something to prove after a long summer yet rejuvinated with the new/young direction of the team.

No, he's not ready. Develop your prospects properly, and you'll reap the benefits. Don't rush them into the league.

And you think Calgary is gonna start reeling off wins? He's better off in the A where he can build up his confidence and focus on his skills. We don't need to bring him up and feed him to the wolves. That dressing room cannot be a healthy place for a young guy struggling with confidence issues right now.

I went to the game in Hamilton last night against Abbotsford. Sven scored a goal and added an assist. For the most part, he looked good, although I noticed he seemed to be shying away from physical contact in the first 30 minutes or so. Towards the end of the game however, he seemed to up the intensity and get more physically involved, which was a good sign. Beyond that, he played pretty well. The skill is definitely there. I am not sure if it is because I was focusing mostly on him, but he definitely seemed like the Heat's most dangerous player. To be honest though, I was a little under-whelmed with his skating as he seemed slow and was often caught flat-footed with the puck. Haven't really watched enough of him to tell whether this is an actual issue for him or if it was just an off night. At any rate, I think he is going to be an NHLer with top 6 potential, but my overall impression from last night was that he is still a few years away from being a full time player with the Flames. I say, leave him in Abby for now and let him continue to develop. He will take a bit more patience than perhaps some originally anticipated, though I suspect that in the end, it will be worth it.

Couldn't agree, more. If anything can't be had for #13 or #40. Buy #13 out in the summer. and put #40 on waivers, immediately.

Only if he's getting top 6 min and gets to play on special teams only then you bring him up lets all keep in mind the Flames are cleaning house he will get his shot on a watered down team just like Iggy did.

That would be a giant waste. Cammalleri and Tanguay both have trade value. It might not be blue chip prospects coming back, but no sense in losing them for nothing.

Trade Cammy, Tanguay, Stempniak, bring up Horak, Baertschi and Street/Walter to finishes out the year.
Hudler - Backlund - Cervenka
Glencross - Stajan - Baertschi
Horak - Street - Comeau
McGrattan - Begin - Jackman
If you can sell off Comeau/Jackman/Begin etc. for late picks I say why not, fill them with more guys from the AHL like Nemisz/Reinhart etc.
It's just 15 games of misery and if the Flames do it right they can get a lot of youth and opportunity back.

Agreed HJ (woah, unfortunate initials).
I remember reading an article about Logan Couture where they were talking about how the 25 games he played his second year (still in the running for ROY) made a huge difference because he got acclimated to the league and had a clear idea about what he had to do over the summer to up his game.
Right now the Flames are a bunch of dead men walking, but after the trade deadline and hopefully moving out some depressed veterans, they can change the atmosphere by using a young team and playing a hard-forechecking speed game.
Sure they'll lose most of the games, but we can accelerate the rebuild by getting some valuable experience in now against teams that will be playing hard for points.

Looks like the Heat are out of playoff contention as well. I think the Flames should let him go to the World Championships. Get him in meaningful games, get him away from this losing environment.
Also, Sven should be on that team if he wants to play in the Olympics next season. Send him to worlds', give him a chance to salvage a disaster of a season.
