If the Flames could just get to shoot out this year (what is it? 2 they been in so far this season?) this would make for some good conversation.

Would not be surprised if Dallas picked him up after dealing Morrow.

Anyone know anything about Daugavins, other then the shootout move? Young prospect. Is he something the Flames could use?

I think he's a great player. It would be stupid for most teams if they passed him up.

I year left on a 3m cap hit i would definatly want Feaster to snag him.
Jussi is 29 Feaster is foolish if he doesn't snag him.
Especially if the Flames are going to start cleaning house of other players.
Once Iggy is traded its not going to stop there.

Second liner at best, needs better players around him to make an impact. I donīt think he would do Calgary much good.

I would totally endorse picking him up. I am surprised he has fallen this far this year.

Canucks should be interested.
They need a faceoff and shootout guy.
Plus he's European and familiar with football so i'm sure he could be taught to dive.

Is waivers order determined by standings yet? If so, there will only be a handful of teams ahead of Calgary on the priority list.

I believe in the Jays.

I'd pick him up. Its a low risk contract and may give us some flexibility to deal other players currently on our roster. Plus, We could trade him next season when he is an expiring contract.
If we are planning a short rebuild then I see no real reason why not to pick him up.

Flames are at the back of the order i think cause they claimed Macdonald.

Unless it changed with the new CBA, that's not how waivers used to work. In full years up to November 1 they used last years standings for waiver priority, then after that date it is current league standings. You don't get bumped to the back of the line cause you put a claim in. At least I haven't read anything that ha ever said that.

Earlier in the year I would've said, 'yeah, absolutely put a claim in on Jokinen,' but now, with only 1 contract spot left, I hope Feaster doesn't do it. That 1 contract spot is vitally valuable right now with the trade deadline a mere week away.

get rid of some other stiffs and bring him in...maybe we might win a shootout
Flames have zero shootout wins and one OT win
1 fricken bonus point on the season

Yeah, unless that's preceeded by some other move that opens up a contract spot. (something like Stempniak for a pick/unsigned prospect)

Ugh. The Flames don't need to be looking for players who can do them any good. They need to be looking for youngish players who can play NHL minutes at a reasonable price to act as placeholders for the next few years as they rebuild. In that mindset, I like Jokinen a lot.
*Edit* For that matter, I like Daugavins too.

I remember we were discussing this on CP just before Sutter decided to try Kotalik on shootouts.

Let's pick him up! He oozes skill and is small, he will fit right in!
He's also great in the shootout
