The spirit of the rule is to discourage guys coming off the bench because it causes brawls. What Clowe did was not why the rule was put in place.

So seeing Clowe coming off the bench and jumping a smaller guy isn't possible to start Blackhawk players from coming off the bench to protect their guy?

I would think that the rule is also in place to stop guys from coming off the bench and jumping guys because that is wildly against the rules and a dangerous thing to allow to happen.

Clowe left the bench on a legal line change to start an altercation, it would if been 10 if it wasn't.

What should the mandatory suspension be for leaving the bench legally to start something? I don't know why people think he should of got 5+
