Didnt Feaster spout off about if a blow up style re-build is needed he is not the man for that job. So should we expect his resignation coming shortly?

I don't care who and when we make a trade. I just want a trade that will bring us a #1 Goalie!

Should be interesting. I don't think the flames can make the playoffs. Right now they are teetering on being a 9-11th team and a 12-15th team. If this team ends up being the latter, i think he will be let go. He accepted the challenge that was handed to him by the owners and spent a lot of their money doing it. I don't think his job is safe. If the mandate by owners does not change, i don't see Weisbrod sticking around either.

Keep: (in no particular order)
- Brodie
- Baertschi
- Backlund
- Gio
- Horak
- Stajan
- Glencross
- Sarich
Don't Care either way:
- Smith
- Cervenka
- Jackman
Dump:
- Hudler
- Wideman
- Bow
- Iggy
- Cammy
- Tanguay
- Comeau (obviously)
- Stempniak
- Babchuk
- Begin
- Butler
- Kipper
Obviously everyone on the dump list won't be moved because that is way too much turnover but all of them should be active shopped to see what we can get back.
I don't think Glencross will waive his NTC so he stays and Sarich isn't getting much so keep him as a leader and for toughness with a young team.
Smith, Cerevenka and Jackman haven't shown much that they will get much but they can fill in to be fillers on a rebuilding team.

Keep:
Hudler
Wideman
Cervenka
Backlund
Bartschi
Horak
Brodie
Regardless what happens this is the group you have to keep going forward
Then Sarich is highly likely to stay due to mentorship and the rest is up in the air. All depends on what the return is.

Biggest problem on the team Is center depth. We have one NHL capable center on the whole roster and thats Stajan, Backlund too but obviously he is hurt. Sucks watching these guys play with no fire, but there is no grit on the team. Our 3rd and 4th lines are poorly constructed. I almost think its time for big changes, if the return is right u move Anyone up front other than iggy, baertschi, Backlund,Glencross, Hudler and Cervenka. On the D I keep Wideman, Gio, Brody. Everyone else should be shopped. They should trade with Colorado for Ryan OReilly, no one untouchable in that trade. Otherwise every other guy traded for picks prospects, center depth and gritty 4th and 3rd liners with somewhat decent hands.

At that time he is either a go to scorer for this team if he recovers, or will return more as a playoff rental for some team on the back of his two clutch playoff performances in Montreal.

You mean Rene Bourque.... The forward with the 3rd most ice time on the Eastern division leader the Montreal Canadiens???
It is a lot easier playing big on a big team and playing big on the small soft Flames that The Feaster Flames have become.
Bourque was keeping his head down while a Flame as he wasn't keen on becoming the backup goon to Jackman that would have to answer the bell.
Right now Glencross and Gio are wondering how the heck did they become the top two big tough guys.
On Montreal Bourque's 21 hits are 9th on the team and no big deal..... on the Flames Jackman , Comeau and Iginla have more.
I'd bet that Cammalleri wishes he was back in Montreal where he was physically protected.

I'm surprised people want to keep Stempniak. I like him, he is a good player and all, but he is so streaky. Trade him now while his value is high. It is hard to imagine a guy like Stempniak is in the plans for the long term success of this team.

My dump list is pretty short, if only because these are the only players I think we could get something for:
Iginla
Kipper
Cammy
Tanguay
I would also try to dump, but I doubt we would get anything:
Babchuk
Stempniak
Comeau
Smith
I would not trade any free agents we signed in the offseason, if for no other reason than you would be hard pressed to actually get another free agent to come here after that. With the money freed up by dumping those 4 big contracts, I would go balls to the wall after Getzlaf, Perry, Horton, Filpulla, Clarkson, Weiss. One would think with 23 million in additional cap space (assuming you move Tanguay, Iginla, Kipper and Cammy) you could sign two of those guys (hopefully)

Flames are small and soft but that had no bearing on Rene Bourque's play here.
Bourque never played on this incarnation of the team and played on much different, grittier, less skilled incarnations of the Flames.
He was lazy, inconsistent, and didn't use his size here when we had Regehr, and Phaneuf patrolling the blueline.
You will really take any opportunity to rail on how small and soft the Flames are this season.
It's also laughable that you would call Montreal "big" they are one of the smallest teams in the league along with Calgary.
Here are the stats for the two teams:
Canadiens: Average Height: 72 CM Average Weight: 201 Lbs Hits: 387
Flames: Average Height: 72.5 CM Average Weight: 197 Lbs Hits: 288
Another thing I would look at with the hits stat is the Montreal home stat keeper.
Montreal Hits: Home: 246 Road: 141
Calgary Hits: Home: 147 Road: 141
Something seems a little fishy with those Montreal home stats.

Offtopic, but what shocked me a bit was that the Calgary Flames got 2 OWN draftees on this lineup at the moment.. 2!! 4 with Backlund and Baertschi, holy hell that is just useless drafting. Kings had 10 draftees yesterday playing.

Dump:
Iginla, Tanguay, Jackman, Sarich, Babchuk, Comeau, Butler, Gio. The other five hundred goalies we will try this year.
Keep:
Cammy, Glencross, Stajan, Bouwmeester, Hudler, Brodie, Backlund, Sven, Crevenka, Wideman, Kipper (if he doesnt retire).
Ont the bubble, Stempniak, Horak, Breen.
Why Keep Cammy and Bouwmeester? Cammy can play with anyone rather keep him than the guys who can only play well with one or two players on the team.
Glencross is an awesome third liner, just wish someone would tell him his place.
Stajan Keeps the bottom nine solid. Hes been good this year no doubt about it. Flames will not be trading anyone they signed in the last year so Hudler, Wideman and Cervenka can stay, although if this season is a bust I think Cervenka will head somewhere else anyways.

It's unbelievable that people want to dump Curtis Glencross. $2.55 million for that type of player is incredible value. He hasn't been lights out since the first few games this year but come on guys... I do love how Matt Stajan is playing right now but if this thread was started last year him and Bouwmeester would be the top 2 on almost everyone's list.
My prediction (not necessarily desires)
RFA's/UFA's for next year:
Iginla - either re-signed or traded at deadline
Cervenka - re-signed
Comeau - gone
Backlund - re-signed
Begin - gone
Byron - re-signed
Babchuk - gone
Butler - gone
Brodie - re-signed
Now the Flames look like this going into next year,
Iginla - re-sign knowing his role will be smaller. If he wants to win in CGY one day he would need to take a paycut ($4 million/year for 4 years)
Cammalleri - traded at deadline
Hudler - keep
Cervenka - keep
Tanguay - shopped at deadline but kept (trade return would be minimal versus production)
Stajan - shopped at deadline but kept
Glencross - keep
Stempniak - shopped at deadline but kept
Backlund - keep
Baertschi - keep
Horak - keep
Jones - trade value is nothing
Jackman - trade value is nothing
Byron - trade value is nothing
Bouwmeester - shopped at deadline but kept
Wideman - keep
Giordano - shopped at deadline but kept
Brodie - keep
Sarich - traded at deadline
Smith - shopped at deadline but kept
Kiprusoff - keep

That team for next year should be good enough to at least give us a fighting chance at Ekblad or Reinhart.

Curt won't leave for anywhere other than the Oilers. Curt was a diehard Oiler fan, and when they shunned him and wouldn't even call him after being a UFA, he signed with the Flames. The Oilers burnt a bridge with a lifetime Oiler Fan. His parents are in Red Deer, his wife and her family are in Alberta, he's not going anywhere, unless he can put the OIlers shunning him behind him. Not waiving for any other team. Actually, if they didn't give him ice time, he'd probably want out, so maybe there is a small chance, but dyck moves like that don't bode well when UFA are considering their options.

Flames should re-sign Jackman to an extension this year at the deadline.
Maybe Calgary is waiting for Brendan Morrison to get healthy, and they'll sign him, fixing the centre position once and for all?

Agreed. I don't see Feaster blowing this team up and that's the team that I predict we see next year.
