I think the Calgary Flames have had ample opportunity to address the center situation, it's not just this year. This problem goes way, way back.

Really interesting to see that the Flames have dropped in every respective category vs the rest of the league, despite actually improving some of their numbers. They sit at the exact same spot in the Western standings as they did back then, they've neither gained or lost any ground.
Worrying facts from these stats:

-Defensively we have to be the worst Flames team in a decade. Much more fun to watch for sure but for whatever reason we can't seem to play this system without our defence leaking goals. Kipper's stats are brutal this year but I'm sure it's the whole team's lack of defensive organisation which is to blame.

-Steve Begin is terrible at faceoffs. Why is he playing centre ahead of Blair Jones anyway? Did Jones hit on Feaster's wife or something? That 4th line has some jam now with Big Brian & Tiny Tim smashing things up. Imagine how effective it would be if they had a solid, faceoff-winning centreman.

-looking at Iggy's numbers & having watched any of his play this year is going to
deter GMs from offering anything substantial for him.

Positives:

-Glenny/Stajan/Stemper. They should never be separated.

-Tanguay is my MVP

-welcome to full-time NHL duty, T.J. Brodie.

-Butler is better when playing less minutes. "Duhhhhh!" He almost looks like a decent defenceman.

-Hudler & Wideman are very good additions, so maybe management has at least a tiny clue of what they're doing.

My verdict:

Team could do some damage if it made the playoffs. Could also easily finish bottom 5 in the league. I'm content either way, as long as we don't finish 9th or deal away our picks.
