Just watched Shawshank Redemption last night for the first time on my new TV... who needs theaters? btw, what an amazing film I can't believe I stalled so long on this one.

Watching The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly tonite or Once Upon a Time in the West. Leone is a genius filmaker.

I'd rather watch classics than the drivel they put in theaters these days.
Good, Bad and the Ugly is good, but the best of the three is definitely For a Few Dollars More. Excellent cinematography, great plot, memorable characters, eerie scenes... excellent. [/b][/quote]
I agree, but I watched that one not too long ago.

Movies here are damn expensive too. About $8

I don't go *that* often myself, but every once and a while I will go with some friends to see a new movie that looks particularly good.

Personally I don't buy food or drinks at the movie theatre. It's too expensive. Most of the time I don't need a drink or something to eat, but if I do I'll bring something from home or another store that I can sneak in with my pockets. They never check, and if they dared I'd break their arm.

As for the previews....I think they are RIDICULOUSLY long before ANY and ALL movies. I refurse to sit through them. When I went to see War of the Worlds, there were 2 showtimes near, 7:00 and 7:30. We were planning on going to the 7:30 one, but when we arrived at the theatre at 7:10 we decided to go to the 7:00 because of the previews. Sure enough we didn't mess anything, and sat down for like 1 or 2 previews still going on.

War of the Worlds I thought was good.

The theatre is too loud and too bright. I miss making out in the old CFB Petawawa theatre in the back corner where no one can see you.

Am I the only person who hated Oceans 11 and thought it was a disgrace to the original?

i'm a huge fan of any WW2 related movies. and i remember being quite young that the title "the pianist" was just total crap and gay.

but being more mature now, i finally got to watching it on the CBC movie night. and my god this is definately one my favorites. some movies are just classic and brilliant, while sadly the majority that are released nowadays are total crap

I've been watching more World War 2 movies lately... Patton and A Bridge Too Far are both fantastic films.

Funny this thread came up, I was going to do a thought of the day about this on my website and mention that there are several reasons...

A: MAKE SOMETHING ORIGINAL. I know I am sick of seeing remakes. There's movies that I see that I'm surprised to find out it was actually a remake and that just p**ses me off.

B: Why does it have to be so fataing expensive to go to a movie now? I don't like spending $20 (US!) to go to a movie by myself, and I won't even begin to touch on how much that would be if there were two.

C: DVDs are so much better. I get to so other stuff and because I joined Blockbuster.com I get them sent to my house. Ummm, love that, for the price of one trip to a theatre.

The entertainment industry is in a really weird place right now. Movies are not as good, TV ain't as good, it's weird.

Move blockbuster season. Summer is a terrible time for me to go watch movies. Between doing something outside and enjoying the weather, or going inside to watch a movie, outside always wins. THere's a ton of movies out I want to see but I haven't found a cloudy day to see them.
