Being able to roll 3 lines that were all putting on offensive pressure was keeping the Flames competitive in Hartley's system.

While Stempniak is playing well, Comeau isn't. I'll agree Street will have some jump for the first game, we'll have to see what happens after that.

Losing Baertschi, Backlund & Cammalleri... the entire 2nd line when the season started... hurts.

Being good on faceoffs and responsible defensively makes him perfect for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd line centre spot.

Why limit him to the 4th line?

Last time this team made the playoffs, the centre position was strong with Langkow and Conroy. Ever since, it's been a bunch of posers like Jokinen, Moss, Stajan, and a not so ready Backlund.

Considering that some people were slotting in Cammalleri-Backlund-Baertschi as the second line this season and even with them completely removed the top 6, including Stajan, looks pretty decent is a positive sign.

I'm also hoping that Babchuk gets the nod over Butler and Sarich, the bottom pairing of Smith-Babchuk might be a bit scary defensively but it's not magnitudes worse than Smith-Butler. Give Babchuk some of Giordano's PP time and start letting him play closer to 22 minutes a night instead of 25.

I'm more upset for Backlund than I am for the team. I think we've got the depth to be fine without him (especially if Cammalleri and/or Sven return), but who knows what this will do to the kid's development. Hopefully he can pick up right where he left off, but he won't have the advantage of being in better game shape than the other guys in a month or two. Just brutal luck.

I think you're all going to be very surprised by Street. There's no way he'll play on the fourth line. The guy is not afraid to shoot. I think he'd be great with Stempniak.

What's more, he's currently on a hot streak of five points in his last four games.
