Tanguay is brutal. If we are trading out guys based on nightly performance, he has gotta be off this team ASAP.

When is the last time you've seen one of those jaw-dropping Tanguayian passes? Seems like forever.

Wouldn't it figure, the second I get my hands on my Tanguay jersey that I won, he has to go and pull a Gomez (but with a lot more scoring). Sigh. Never again will I get a name on a jersey. I buy a Connie and he retires three days later. I get a free Jersey from the Flames and that player immediately goes into a slump.

Interesting, how many brutal players lead their team in scoring?

Offensively he's playing up to his contract. But he's super soft and does make stupid mistakes from time to time. Also he's not very physical but you payed him to be offensive, not to Mike Peca it up. Feaster put this super soft team together and now Hartley wants everyone to play out of their elements and be super tough. If you ask me this team is a recipe for disaster. Tanguay's not the problem IMO.

You'd be the most popular guy on CP if you bought yourself a Comeau jersey.
Look! I even link one for you!

Not really that interesting. Stat lines are often not indicative of a players true value to his team. I think tanguay has been brutal for the better part of last year, and this year is no different.

Oh yea... This thread. Well, I changed the title to correctly reflect his play of late, you could really apply it to all the "Fricken" threads at the moment.

Anyone else get the gut feeling that if Jarome gets dealt, Tanguay will as well?
Not necessarily to the same team, but to a contender?
I know he has his warts, and all the losing is making us see mostly negatives, but $3.5 million is a steal for 0.80ppg player. I tend to believe that Tanguay would be a huge addition/benefit to a perennial contending team as playing with an actual chance at a Cup would probably breath new life into a vet like Tangs.
I think he could net a nice return.

Actually, I think he has more value to a team like Nashville, struggling offensively with an internal budget. Have some guys, but struggle with puck possession and passing in the offensive zone.
Phoenix is another potential team. He's displayed an ability to play to play defensive hockey before, though, he seemed to bail on it.
Dallas, too, could be a potential destination for the same reasons as above.
I know we went over this before and I'm not trying to troll you, but I just don't see what a top team is looking to get a guy like Tanguay. I don't think his contract is that much of a steal, quite frankly, given his warts. Detroit could be interested because he could replace Bertuzzi as their second line mixer, but I don't know what direction they're going to go in this year. They might even be sellers.

On the flip side, the Flames still need skilled vets even if they choose to rebuild. Who else are they going to put on the first line? Tanguay is dirt cheap, has a cup ring, can create offense on his own, and his skill set should age well. He'll be a good asset to play alongside Backlund or whatever youngin' the Flames draft this year.
If Feaster can get rid of Cammalleri instead of Tanguay, that should be the preferred route.

i still don't see teams excited and willing to part with assets to get a questionable 2nd/3rd line, 33 year old guy who is signed forever (till 2016).
I doubt we'd get prospects/picks in exchange for this guy. I think we'll get another team's mediocre roster player with similar contract implications.

Tanguay is fine, it's the team composition that is really showing off everyone's weaknesses. You can't have a top 6/9 with no two way players. Look at the leagues best teams and tell me who has top lines without a defensive presence? Success derives from a diverse composition of players. Even NHL 13 knows that you can't win with an entire team of snipers and playmakers. It's why the oilers are terrible and why we are terrible.

This has been my feeling since the beginning of the season.
I'm not slagging on Tanguay, but I have a feeling that him and Iggy really get along and was one of the attractions to resigning back in Calgary. I also don't think Tanguay has the full personality to be the face of a franchise rebuild or the desire. I get the vibe (no hard evidence) that if Iggy goes so does Tanguay (and possibly Cammellari).
