The Flames are in no position to be trading any assets or draft picks for a guy that may be marginally better than Irving.

If the Flames are looking for a playoff run, I'm hoping it's precautionary. Kiprusoff is the first, second, and probably the third most important player on this team.

That said, from a developmental point of view, this could be the break Irving was hoping for. He has looked pretty solid in most of his games (with exception of the Boston game which nobody on the team actually played...Kiprusoff no better).

Exactly. If kipper is out , give it to Irving . If he falters sign Taylor from the heat.

Wonder if we see LB up on emergency recall if it's only short-term.

Time to see what Irving can do.

Yes he has struggled this season (granted it was 6 games over 4 months) but I think we all have short memories since many were predicting that him and Ramo would be our goaltending tandem moving forward after this season and were comfortable with his play last season.

I agree that we should call up Laurent Broissiot on an emergency basis if Kipper is only out short term, would rather that then spend a contract spot on Taylor or Brust.

If Kipper is out next game they have to sign one of them as a backup for Irving. Can they sign one of them to a PTO to be the backup, instead of using one of the teams 50 contracts?

My opinion: strained, hopefully not sprained or worse, right knee.

Short term Brossoit get's a ATO to open the door and practice in the pro's... any longer then I think Taylor get's a deal. Hope not though... Want that open reserve list slot.

What does Ottawa need right now? Because we have plenty of D to work out a deal.

Any other team have a decent goalie that can be had for some defensemen?

Unless Kipper is out long term, why would we trade for anyone?

Just my guess based on reports from Detroit that say Kipper left the arena looking okay... Hartley has been overly protective of his older players and their health (ie. Iginla missing most of camp over basically nothing).

It's a short season and I suspect he pulled Kipper just to be safe knowing the team has been playing well and hungry for a win regardless of who was in net.

I think Irving was the plan for Colombus anyways, so this just moves things up by a period and gives Kipper 3 days to rest until Vancouver on Saturday.

Obviously wait until theres a final opinion on Kipper, And IF he is out long term I am fine Giving Irving the reigns but would be far more comfortable with an established back up behind him. Like Millions just tweeted, Scott Clemmenson could be available and would help if needed. Besides, what better way to clear up the log jam on D?

If price is too high, walk. If we have to get a longer term replacement, prefer that we give a contract back instead of adding without subtracting. Can't afford to be close to the limit with NCAA Free agents becoming available soon.

Randy Sportak says Kipper walked out of the room without a brace or cast or crutches. And he didn't see noticeable limp.

Would we be able to bring Ortio over from Finland if kipper is out for Columbus game? He's the only other goalie signed with us right now.
