Been working the 2nd shift...had to watch the 'Hawks/Canucks game on the DVR...Lou was Very good, and the Canucks did a stellar job of blocking shots and passing lanes, but seemed to be on their heels much of the night...
The 'Hawks were very careless on puck entries, and seemed extremely casual with the puck, even when they forced a turnover, just no urgency to attack at times.
OK...Rant at Q...Sharp is a fricken 20% career in shootouts...WHY KEEP TROTTING HIM OUT THERE???!! Leddy to stay alive? LEDDY? You have Hossa, Stalberg, Kruger, Saad or Frolik on the bench and you send out the #5 D-man in a must score shootout spot??? Terrible, just Terrible choices in Shootout Lineup by Q.
Ok, it's on to Calgary...as I said in a prior OOT thread...I see the Flames game being a "trap" game for the 'Hawks...I expect more careless, sloppy, emotionless play from my guys, and I expect a rusty Ray Emery to be in net.

Dan Ellis gets the SHUTOUT for the Hurricanes in 1-0 reg win over the Senators. Nice deflection by Staal for the game's only goal. It was a goalie's duel between Ellis and Anderson as Carolina had 35 shots to Ottawa's 33. Tampa shot down the Jets 8-3! Tampa's PP had lightning in the 1st period, 3 for 3 and had a 6-0 lead in the 3rd period before the Jets scored. Pavlec was pulled after the 5th goal. Nice empty net goal by Zetterberg to get the hattrick for the Red Wings' 5-3 win. Halak had a facial injury during the 1st period and sat on the bench the rest of the game. The Capitals get their 2nd win of the season, 3-2 in reg time over the Flyers. The Stars win 4-3 in the SO over Phoenix. Mike Smith was back in net for the Coyotes. The Bhawks lose again in the SO, 2-1 to the Canucks. The final game had the Ducks beating the Wild 3-1. Selanne assisted on all 3 goals in the game, he really is an ageless wonder and good for him! His linemates Bobby Ryan had 1 goal and 2 assists and Palmieri had 2 goals. The Ducks backup goalie Viktor Fasth was in net.
Although they're obviously not going to restart the game at 3-3, or take away the game winning goal Detroit got on that 5 minute PP. And, the goal came over 2 minutes into the penalty, so even if they called a (still incorrect) 2 min penalty for some reason, Detroit wouldn't have been on the PP when they had scored their PP goal, so the beyond terrible 5 minute call did it.
Horrendous officiating, slanted once again, for Detroit while at home.

From behind (where the ref who made the call was) it's easy to see why he thought it was a head shot 0 it certainly looked like it. But he can't kick a guy out if he doesn't actually see the contact.
Probably the worst call this season and that's saying something.

There needs to be instant replay for majors etc. And there really should be an off ice official that can call down missed majors and such.
The game moves too fast for the officials to get it all right all the time.
