I usually don't drink during the week. On the weekend, I don't even know, too much

8 a week is nothing for your wife to be concerned about. I think she needs to have one and relax

Well if you're drinking 6 pints per week, which seems to be your 'high' side, that would be around 1,200 calories. Not exactly a huge problem unless you're overweight.

I am assuming that she is concerned because of that, as that amount of beer surely won't make you turn into a raging drunk.

Usually drink 1-2 nights a week (on weekend) - between 8-12 beers/night. Don't drink the rest of week usually, unless it's a beer with dinner at a restaurant. So I'd say I average 16 beers/week. That's bottles/cans though. So about 12 pints. Also, I don't drink any alcohol besides beer.

Your wife is being unreasonable.

When I drink I usually have 15-20 drinks. Starts with about 12 beers and then turns into shots. I've never seen the point in drinking one or two. I've decided to quit drinking altogether.

Aside from the occasional shower brew I don't drink mid week very often.

I usually drink too much a few times a year and on weekends it really depends what I am doing. More in the summer though, after yard work it is hard to avoid that sweet sweet nectar.

On that note, no beer is more relaxing than a cold one in the shower.

Same here, just keep going though and you get to appreciate the flavour.

As for me, about 6-8 per year give or take. I usually drink scotch instead.

That is not much at all.

Theres a lot more drinkers than non-drinkers posting in the thread, so that probably makes it pretty biased

Depends on the season, right now my weekday drinking isn't significant. If I'm out for wings or dinner with friends I'll have a couple but that is maybe an average of 1-2 times every two weeks. On weekends, it depends on the event we're attending Friday & Saturday. If the plan is to head to a bar/club, I'll pickup a 12 pack to pre-game for the night and will usually be left with 0-3 depending on what time we head down.

In the summer, my weekday drinking increases as dinners on the deck/outdoor patios increase. Also, we tend to have more parties on weekends where we will all pitch to get a keg. Not exactly rowdy keggers like my uni days but we still manage throw down quite a few.

I would agree with those who say the 1-2 beer a day thing is a non-issue. My dad was a pretty straight laced guy who worked for Canadian Airlines & Air Canada for many years. He often loved to relax before bed with a couple beers in our hottub. Given the stories he told about working for Air Canada when Canadian was taken over, I can now realize that the 30-45 minutes of peace & quiet that he got out there were probably tremendously soothing for him and allowed him to unwind after long, stressful days at work.

When you get past the 3-4 mark a day I think you can start running into some problems. Even then, if you are taking care of yourself and your family, are keeping yourself healthy through exercise, and are not doing foolish things like drinking and driving I don't think it is anyones place to pass judgment.

Same, but probably in a different way than you.

This thread has told me a few things.

A) I'm never getting married
b) I'm a drunk
