I love my Tassimo and my Tim's. Not a coffee snob. Heck, I absolutely love the Tassimo Chai Tea Lattes!!

Have a Tassimo. Love it. Hate the Chai Tea from Tassimo, unless it's mixed with a cup of hot chocolate. Then it's tolerable.

If you watch Costco, they will often sell a gigantic box of the t-discs. Only problem with that is that there a few latte t-discs thrown in there, and if you don't drink lattes, it's a bit of a waste.

As for K-cups, Sobey's sells their own version of them but I don't know how they compare to Keurig's, in price.

Cheapest place to get Keurig cups and the best selection is from Keurig. They ship to Canada as well and it is free shipping on orders over $45.

http://www.keurig.com/

They are starting up a Canadian site, but I don't think you can register there yet.

Costco might have cheap Kcups but the selection is basically non existent.

Cayne's Housewares now sells Kcups as well and has a fairly good selection. They started carrying the large size boxes too, so 48 to 54 Kcups in a box.

They also have free shipping on orders over $100 and other free shipping specials throughout the year.

I think there are multiple patents with different expiry dates. I've already seen generic pods at Safeway that say they're compatible with Keurigs and are cheaper - I haven't bought any so can't comment on the quality.

IIRC Sept 2012 for the k-cups themselves. I saw a new Keurig maker advertised down in the states (apparently a smarter barcode system) which uses different k-cups - in what I assume was a response to the expired patent. I have yet to see it up here though.

Starbucks has their own "Verisimo" system, which uses the patents that expired this year, and is available here in Canada. Looks almost identical to Kcups, but I believe theyre non-interchangeable.

If I remember correctly from work, doesn't them machine just poke a hole in the lid?

What is stopping you from buying the starbucks cups and pouring the contents into the refillable K-Cup? Sizes should be pretty standard no?

? Why wouldn't you just buy a regular bag of ground beans and pour it into the refillable k-cup?

Also, starbucks also still makes regular k-cups.

I've had a Tassimo for 3 weeks now. The quality and range of coffees is pretty good. We don't get Tim Hortons here and I'm not bothered about that, but we get Costa Coffee which is nice.

My 7 year old son loves the Milka Hot Chocolates.

I have a Tassimo that my mother in law bought me just over a year ago. It's decent, I use it pretty much every week day morning to make a cup of coffee for my drive to work. I actually find that Superstore PC West coast dark roast is pretty good, and I think you get 14 discs for 6.98. I don't notice a huge difference between that one and other more expensive dark roasts like the Gevalia, Second Cup, or Carte Noir, which go 8.99 to 10.99 for 12 discs.

If you want Cappuccino's or Latte's than save your money for a better system. For a quick cup of coffee it's a decent system. Still on weekends, I prefer to grind up some beans and brew a couple cups. 450 grams of beans gets you a lot of T-Discs worth of coffee. I haven't done a scientific experiment, but I'd guess it's the equivalent of 40-50 T-discs. So for something like Kicking Horse coffee...I get like 4 times more, and what I consider a better cup for the same money so I wouldn't try making my own T-discs at home. Basically it's a quick easy way to get a cup of coffee, tea or hot chocolate. So in the morning if you don't have a lot of time, or don't want to make a lot of noise, it is convenient.
