They did an awesome job yesterday.

I can, especially when all scoring plays are automatically reviewed and non-scoring plays are not. In the NFL when a play that that happens where an official isn't on the goal line or in a great spot to determine the call, they defacto call it a touchdown, knowing that it will get reviewed. As a result the proper call will be made and no team will have to ponder or risk making a replay challange. That's best practice.
That all said that's with the understanding that there's enough camera angles available to make the call. Agreed, bad on the league / TSN for not having the goal-line camera on that play.

At Stamps games at least, the camera that covers the goal line is on a moving cart, that only moves to the goal line basically when a team is in the red zone. That's why there's no goal line camera for the Mo Price catch.

This is pretty much an observation I have made since they changed the automatic review process for every score. Not official policy. I watch a lot of NFL (Sunday ticket pretty much every week), and I noticed this year the refs are much more willing to call it a touchdown with someone that looks like there's a possibility that they're down at the 1 yard line.

Hmm, I've never noticed that. I guess they may lean slightly that way, but with the importance of video evidence being irrefutable to overturn a call I don't think it's good policy to make a call on the basis that video will get it right if you don't. I'd say most guys, if not all, are making the call they honestly think is correct.

I would agree that's the best approach. However I'm sure there are plays that in the head of the officials as they happen, are not definative one way or another. On those plays they have to make an immediate call. On close endzone calls this season I'm noticing a bias towards calling it a TD (And I'm talking about the portion of the season that has been played with real refs not replacements).

The whole year because of the 100th anniversary of the Grey Cup I thought a Calgary-Toronto game would be great. Kinda a rematch of 1948 when the Calgary fans started the modern Grey Cup party. Doubted very much it would happen though. And here it is! I'm super excited for this game, wish I could be down in Toronto for the festivities!

Huge ratings for the division finals! I hope hockey never comes back.
http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=409870
Overnight data from BBM Canada confirms that the Western Final with Calgary at B.C. was watched by an average audience of 2 million viewers on TSN and RDS (1.9 million on TSN; 105,000 on RDS). On TSN, this marked a 3% increase compared to last year. Audience levels peaked at 2.9 million on TSN late in the fourth quarter of the game as the Stampeders held on to defeat the defending Grey Cup champions at BC Place.
Earlier in the afternoon, the Eastern Final, featuring Toronto at Montreal, attracted an average audience of 1.9 million on TSN and RDS (1.43 million on TSN; 466,000 on RDS). On TSN, the Eastern Final was up 15% compared to last year. Audience levels peaked at 2.7 million viewers on TSN as the Alouettes set up their last play of the game.
Overall, more than 8.6 million Canadians watched some part of the 100th Grey Cup Playoffs on TSN and RDS Sunday.

That's no way to get tickets to the big game, Mr. Harper...
The McQuay fumble defined the game and the 14-11 Stampeder victory and left young Harper crying.
"I think that was the only time that I cried in front of the TV at a sports event," Harper said Monday as he answered questions at a Canada-U.S. business forum.
"We had been waiting for 20 years. I was growing up in Toronto. Obviously the Argonauts were my team."
Harper said, however, that has changed.
"I still have a soft spot for them, but now the shoe's on the other foot," he said.
"I now live in Calgary. I represent Calgary in the House of Commons so I've got to be on the side of my new home town. But I'll be happy with either."

Always the politician, Steve.
Speaking of which, say what you will about Trudeau's politics, but this is a look that no other Canadian PM could have pulled off (at the 1970 Grey Cup):

Then instead of whining why not address the football points that I and others have brought up?

Because you're polarizing. To the point that Your presence on this forum literally reduces screen glare.

I like an angry Anwar Stewart, the goal is to focus and channel that energy towards Ricky Ray.
“That team,” sniffed Lions’ hybrid running back Andrew Harris, “isn’t even close to as good as us. That’s the thing that stings the most. We got beat by a team that’s not better than us.”
Echoed dazed DB Dante Marsh: “I didn’t even think it was going to be close.”
“Crazy,” muttered Calgary Stampeders’ rush end Anwar Stewart. “Just disrespectful. Man, I don’t get it. No, I just do not get it.
“Even the last time we played them in there, we had a chance to win the game. We just didn’t finish. So I’m readin’ this stuff this morning and I’m like ‘What makes you guys so superior?!’
“They’re freakin’ arrogant.
“You can’t disrespect the game. You can’t disrespect the players. Maybe they did take us lightly. If they did, well, honestly, this is what happens when you do. We don’t take anybody lightly. We don’t take any team for granted. We treat everybody with respect.
“People talked about our learning curve. Maybe this is a learning curve for them.”

Lions finished 13-5, Stamps finished 12-6. Stamps were on an 11-2 run going into the game. Lions hadn't played a meaningful game since the start of October, their QB had only played a quarter or so in 5 weeks, their O line was banged up.... Stamps have the western nominee for MOP and Outstanding Canadian and, by anyone's measurement except deluded Prider fans, the best running back in the league. Stamps had the second best offence in the league (and best of any team to make the playoffs), BC had the best defence. Stamps were also banged up, starting our backup QB (although he has played most of the year), missing our starting middle linebacker, and has a rotation of injuries all year playing upwards of 70 different players throughout the year, and yet still finished a whopping 1 win behind the Lions.
The Lions should have been favoured as they finished first not just in the west but overall in the league, had the bi-week and should have been rested, and are the defending champions. Having said that, this was not some monumental upset. This was two closely matched teams, one much younger than the other and going in on a roll, with a QB with something to prove. This was not some 6 win team that snuck into the playoffs then fluked out a semi-final win on a trick play or a slippery football in a blizzard and then shocked a 15-3 team that was firing on all cylinders.
Poor babies in Vancouver - not shocking really given that city's overall sports record, and considering the Nucks were on the sidelines to provide "moral support". I'm just glad they didn't burn the downtown core down again.

Oh let's not be rider fans and get hooked like this is some Gainer fiasco. I don't believe the horse was Montreal either, and they did fine. Besides, that building is going to be LOUD. In an enclosed stadium, I don't know if that amount of noise is good for the horse.

That happens every year the Stamps go to the Grey Cup, and they always find a solution.
