It bottles heat very well, I can wear it in a -30 Prairie winter day and my torso will not get cold.

However, I don't get cold very often..

It's the best thing in the world. When it gets cold, I just throw a Patagonia down sweater on underneath, and it's good until about -15.

No, I don't think it's a sign of hipsterism. Well, I'm not trying to be a hipster, at least.

I guess I just like sweaters.

In terms of really ridiculous things, I saved up for about one million years to buy this:

Jackets are for kitty cats.....the only jacket a real man needs in the winter is denim on the outside and plaid on the inside. It is known as the Red Deer dinner jacket.

Seconded. I have a pair of shell cordovans from Brooks Brothers. Alden makes them for BB. Great footwear.

For mildly chilly weather, I have a leather jacket I wear. For going to work when it's rather frosty or windy out, I have this coat in black:

Hugo Boss 'The Roadway'. Picked it up from Harry Rosen while they were having a spring sale - 50% off, can't complain considering it was the one I wanted anyway.

Canada Goose Chateau Parka

http://www.canada-goose.com/products.../chateau-parka

It's only good for keeping you warm. Not stylish or useful for sports.

Let me explain.

If you're waiting for Calgary Transit for 45 minutes at -25 in a stiff wind you'll be slightly overheated.

If you go for a walk in the evening in the same conditions you'll probably unzip it.

If you decide to go Tobogganing in it you'll go home and change.

I've shovelled snow at -25 with a tee shirt and pants wearing this coat and thought I would die.

Pretty 'stylish' coat as far as parkas go, IMO. I'd wear one.
