Bad timing with the NHL starting up tomorrow and the abundance of good games tomorrow.
All these games look good to me but I'll be watching hockey after the WVU game.
Syracuse@Louisville
Creighton@Wichita St.
Ohio St.@Michigan St.
Oklahoma@K-State
Maryland@UNC
Missouri@Florida
Gonzaga@Butler (Too bad no Rotnei)

Good day of hoops today, sucks though I have been busy and been only able to check out the scores.
Syracuse knocked off #1 Lousivlle after Michael Carter-Williams knocked down two free throws and then the game winning steal for a 70-68 victory for the Orange!
Keith Appling who has been Mr. Clutch for the Spartans helped them edge #11 Ohio State 59-56. Will the Big Ten win it all this year? How many teams will they have in the Final Four? They look they are head and shoulders above every conference out there.
Wichita St edges #12 Creighton in another nail bitter 67-64.
I think it needs to be said, Missouri might be the most overrated team in the country.
Gonzaga up by 1 at the half against Butler. That could be another nail bitter as they basically traded basket for basket in the first half.
What? Yes? What? Absolutely? What just happened? Brad Stevens? Why? What's going on? This sport is stupid? Rotnei? Roosevelt Jones? Let's party? Yes. Great sport. Let's party.

??? Absolutely doesn't need to be said. Lost to a title contender on the road? Not a bad loss at all. Florida is top 5 and Missouri is still top 20. I think we're okay with that?
Wichita State will no doubt be back in the top 25 after beating Creighton yesterday. Gregg Marshall's coaching in the final minute was brilliant.
Dougie got his points, but the Shockers took care of the ball and despite crappy free throw shooting, led almost from start to finish.
Can't wait for the rematch @Qwest Center in Omaha on March 2nd in the Conference finale. I have a feeling that game will mean something to both teams.
In the Big Sky, it is once again Montana and Weber St both at 8-0 in the conference. Neither team is a threat on the national stage, but this is one of the best rivalries in the mid-majors. Hope to get to watch those two matchups.

Notre Dome knocks off Lousivlle in the fifth OT period!! Its the longest regular season Big East game since 2002 as Notre Dome defeated Georgetown, 116-111 in four OT periods.
Is it to early too say March Madness is going to be flipping fantastic this year?
Might not even have been the craziest play of the day. Wisconsin with the half-court miracle to force OT and then upset Michigan was crazy. Definitely the wildest regular season in recent memory, no one team has really seperated themselves, should be a wide open tournament.

Nope. I think we need a good one after last years. It was fine, but if you are talking about Syracuse vs. Wisconsin being the best game of the tournament then it probably wasn't a great one.
I'd like to do this again. I don't mind starting the thread and being the commissioner as long as someone doesn't mind doing half the job that octothorp did on the bracket last time.
I'll start the workshop thread if there's any interest at all. I guess if two people say they are in I'll start it.

14 out of the top 25 teams lost this week. I wonder when was the last time that happened.
Indiana should stay on top of the polls despite their loss to Illinois. I'd be disappointed if Duke was #1.
Why?
I could understand if they had played a butter soft schedule like Florida but Duke has played a good schedule, has fewer losses and only losses came after losing one if their most important players.
They deserve to be number one based on what has happened so far this year.

They might have the best resume, well they probably do, but after watching them squeak out wins against Wake Forest and Boston College today, I have a really hard time thinking they are the top team in the country.

But the same can be said about all the top teams: After losing to Illinois I have a hard time thinking Indiana is the top team, after getting blown out by Arkansas I have a hard time thinking Florida is the top team, after losing to Wisconsin I have a hard time thinking Michigan is the top team.
Considering all the top teams lost to teams this week (some more than once) it seems odd to punish Duke for only winning by a little in one of their games.

Those doubts were wiped out for me by winning in Columbus.
I watched Michigan and Wisconsin and I thought Michigan looked good despite losing. Wisconsin is a pretty tough place to win.
I don't think you should think Florida is the top team. I'd take Duke over them with or without Kelly. I don't have many problems with Duke this year. They are a decent watch. I'll pick them to win the NCAA's if they look good enough and a win vs Miami would do a lot to change my mind.

If the bench player LeVert didn't ignore Beilein's instructions to foul immediately. Wisc would to go to the line with no time left they would lose by 1 in reg. Kid was an idiot.
Agree Florida is going to a dangerous match up for anyone.

For reference:
I really disagree with you. Not always the best move to foul up 3. How much time was left? 2.4 seconds? I don't think that's enough time to foul. Brust caught the ball and essentially took the shot right away. If LeVert fouls then Brust has 3 shots then Brust has essentially a 25% chance of making all 3 shots. You think that shot that Brust took was a 25% shot? More like a 5-10% shot.
Ideally do you foul him before he has the chance to shoot? Of course. I don't think that was the reality of the situation though. You'd be putting him on the line for 3 shots.

Actually, it's been statistically shown to be pretty much always the right move, and there was plenty of time to commit a non-shooting foul. I'm glad he didn't, nice to see scUM lose.

Yeah, I've read the paper from the Depauw (same school where Brad Stevens played) head coach about fouling up 3. I get that it's the right move if you can get him before he gets the shot off. You seem more convinced than me that he would've been able to foul in time. I'm especially unsure that LeVert would have been able to foul in time since it was played in Wisconsin. College basketball has the most "hometown calls" across all major sports and I wouldn't want to leave that up to the officials.
Do you know of any rules against fouling Brust before he catches the ball as long as the defender is making a play at the ball? That seems like the best option to me.
I'm not sure what the full rule is on that, but I see a full stride there where he could have been fouled after he caught the ball. I'm not sure if the guy intentionally pulls out of doing so or simply doesn't close the gap in time, but I thought he could have gotten there.
Anyways, big game in EL tonight. Izzone will be rocking.
