What are the rules in Alberta now? I thought there was some 3 foot distance rule that basically made lap dances illegal (and the reason for the loonie toss), and yet I've also heard people talking about getting lap dances at the Maid.

They don't have showers or anything like that, but the big draw there is that the lack of alcohol means that it's a nude club (Vegas clubs that serve alcohol can only be topless unless they were grandfathered in), and their lap dances are given horizontally.

I know too much about strip clubs.
The other nice thing about the lack of alcohol at Little Darlings is that it means the dancers can be under 21.

Good point. There are a lot of clubs in Vegas, so the 21+ dancers get spread around, but Little Darlings is the only good place for the 18-20 girls, so the hottest ones all concentrated there. If you don't mind sneaking in your booze, it's the best club in Vegas.

The have lap dances, but they can not touch you still, so in theory its a private dance with a naked girl close to you... In theory

I agree about the whole throwing loonies thing being distasteful and not very interesting. I have not been to clubs in Vegas or Montreal though, so I cannot compare. I tried it once, and have never done it again.

I had gone twice for bachelor parties, one for one of the guys who used to be on the board here. That was a fun trip, but more cause the guys organizing it did it real well.

I had two girlfriends who always liked to go. They always wanted to sit at perv row and judge the girls too. I used to have to tell them to be respectful, lol. They were worse than guys. Though one time, I did end up with both my ladies and two of the strippers sitting with us when they were done their shift. One of the strippers knew one of my girlfriends from bikini bar days, it ended up being one of the most surreal experience I had ever been in. The second girl is busy throwing coins at the strippers nether region while the stripper and my first girl are talking about college courses and babies.

A weirdly fun experience. Not to mention just about every guy in the place was trying to burn a hole through my head with an evil stare. Ha!

bikini bar, that's what I was thinking of, not topless waitress bar.

^^^ I think there is a real sleazy one downtown, but the one on Heritage has been closed for a while, and the one on 16th has been closed even longer.

I have never been to a strip club and like many on here think there are disgusting and so degrading to women, but if that is the law it is certainly not followed.

I found strip clubs in Houston odd coming from Alberta in that they are basically there to get cheap lap dances with a lot of touching involved and the "dances" are basically a second thought just to get you to see the girls that could potentially give you a lap dance. The lap dances were also very cheap compared to Alberta and done behind 3 chairs rather than a seperate room.

I also remember that when I was there (2005) the full nude clubs more like Alberta clubs were bring your own liquor for $20 cover charge.

I am going to Vegas soon with a CP member from Montreal for a bachelor party. Hopefully he can come on when he gets back and let everyone know what he prefers.

How? I dont know...being a source of jerk-off material for men sounds a bit sad. All I'm saying is I don't think every "profession" that exists needs to be respected. Im not an idealist either! Sometimes life just does not treat you well and you have to take up jobs that you'd rather not do. But I do have to draw a line at things like stripping. Because isn't there always something better a person could be doing with their time than that?? I'm not a sexually repressed person, in fact I'm very open about it, but just the idea of a naked woman dancing in front of a stranger for money just makes me feel sad and feel pity. And I can't read their minds but I feel that the reason some strippers say "they're completely comfortable with it" or "enjoy doing it", is an act of suppressing their minds and their true feelings: "Shut off your mind and pretend to enjoy it, may be you'll actually start to!"

I don't get it man!

But why do you think there's something better a person could be doing with their time than stripping? The girls that I know make $500-$1000 per shift while working flexible hours and not doing anything that they aren't comfortable doing. Is that a worse option than working in a cubicle farm for a fraction of the pay? Maybe in your mind it is, but as long as they aren't under the influence of drugs or an abusive boyfriend, they're more qualified to make that decision for themselves than you are.

How is a strip club more degrading than, for example, professional sports? In both cases, it's men sitting around drinking beer while admiring/judging people based more on their physical attributes than their intellectual abilities or worth as human beings. What's the difference? Is it that the one is sexual and the other is not. If that's it, then I'm going to have to disagree with your claim that you're not a sexually repressed person. If that's not it, then is it that young women are somehow less capable than young men of deciding what's good for them?

Are you serious?
You're comparing sports, where to make it takes a life long commitment, practicing, and only the top 1% of the population has the skill/talent/determination to make it, to stripping where the qualifications are have boobs?

Yeah, "no touching." Meanwhile, they rub their hatchet wound on your wang like you are the parmesan cheese and they are the cheese grater...

Mexico and Thailand, all make US and Canadian strip clubs look like church.

Considering your avatar, I'm pretty sure that there are more qualifications than just "boobs" for stripping.

Just like serving and bartending require certain qualifications as well.

Sounds like you know a lot about strippers. How many strippers do you know? Do they get paid in cash, and do they pay their taxes? Do you know for a fact they don't do drugs? Are they treated with dignity and respect by their employer?

I know many, but I'd consider maybe a half dozen of them to be good friends at the moment.

It varies by jurisdiction, but most of them are independent contractors, so they do not get paid by the clubs (they actually have to pay anywhere from $20-100 for the "honor" of working). They make all their money in stage tips and dance fees, which is cash. Some of them pay taxes on a portion of that money, comparable to what most waiters or waitresses pay. Others do not pay taxes because they don't want to have it on the record that they worked as strippers and they know that they will be judged for it by society.

I can't say for sure what anyone does when I'm not around them, but I'm fairly certain that only one of ones that I'd consider to be friends does anything more than smoke some weed. Half of them only drink alcohol, and one doesn't even drink.

Some are and some are not, just like in any other profession.

1) My avatar doesn't have anything to do with this. How does me having an offensive avatar relate to wheter or not strippers need any skills other than being good looking (and if you're in Ft. Mac, that's not even required)

2) How are bartenders relevant to my post? You implied there were similarities between stripping and sports because dudes sit around and watch them both. Thing is, almost no one watches Jarome Iginla because he's so dreamy, they watch becasue he can do amazing things because of his talent, dedication and practice. That's worlds different than why dudes watch "Misty" do her thing (and exactly what it took for her to get that job).

I've got nothing against strippers, the world needs stippers too.
But if I had a daughter who turned out to be a stripper, I'd be pretty ashamed of myself.
