This is the third year I've grown a moustache, and the second that I've raised money. I've always thought Movember was a pretty cool event that raised awareness and money for men's health. This year hits a little closer to home for me, though.
This past Spring, my father was diagnosed with cancer, and passed away in June. He was a great man who was known for his "plain-ness", his passion for cars, his love for his family...and his moustache. From the time he was 19 until his death at age 60, he was always rockin' his Mo. So, this year, not only am I participating in Movember to raise awareness & money for prostate cancer and men's mental health, I'm also doing it in tribute to a great man with a great moustache.
As for myself ... I'm in 6 days of stubble mode all over the face right now, I'm gonna have to keep the stache.
Yeah man it got cold down here, it was only 61* (16*C) here for a high a couple of days last week.

It may "raise awareness" but you will notice it does nothing to actually cure or help others with these illnesses. Go to university and become a doctor. That will do more than a meaningless campaign will.
I suppose the money that we donated to the hospice where my dad stayed before he died of of liver cancer was also pointless. Damn money-sucking nurses.
Please don't be a dumbass. At least not in this thread.
Last year I launched a pretty vigourous Facebook campaign, which catapulted me to #2 in my entire company for donations. At the peak of my online campaign, I created this:
This year I'm doing it again. I'll likely get less donations (can only go to the well so many times), but I'm captain for my office, so I'm on board nonetheless.

Why don't you go to Univeristy and become a doctor?
Shameless plug http://mobro.co/stevedcsmith . Can't see it at all unless you're at the right angle, I guess that's the problem with thin blonde facial hair
Men’s health is a cause I am passionate about but in order to make a difference I need your help. My commitment is to grow a moustache for the month of November and by changing my appearance, raise vital awareness and funds for men’s health, specifically prostate and testicular cancer initiatives.
I am asking you to help support my personal journey by making a donation. The size of the donation isn’t important, every little bit helps Movember continue its funding of world-class programs.
To highlight the importance of what I am doing, take a look at these statistics:
• 1 in 6 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime
• This year 242,000 new cases of prostate cancer will be diagnosed
• This year 8,290 men will be diagnosed with testicular cancer
If you’d like to help change these statistics, please donate to me by:
*Donating online at: http://mobro.co/ianjens
*Writing a check payable to 'Movember', referencing my Registration ID: 3289801 and mailing it to: Movember, PO Box 2726, Venice CA 90294-2726
For more details, take a look at the Programs We Fund section on the Movember website: http://us.movember.com/about/funding-overview/
Thank you in advance for supporting my efforts to change the face of men's health.
Ian Jens
Movember is a registered 501 (c)(3) charity, donations are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law.
