Well, if you're on the south side of the street, you're a dirty suburbanite that's guilty of aiding and abetting Urban Sprawl. You probably drive a gas guzzling SUV, and your wife is definitely a soccer mom. Oh, and SebC hates you.

Now, if you happen to live on the north side of 26th, then you're an environmentally conscious citizen that deserves extra latte in your latte.

Well then, you really don't know where the inner city really is so its not surprising you'd think 84th st is "way out of the inner city" Forest Lawn is inner city and only 3 minutes away from 84th st.

Just because Forest Lawn has stereotypical inner city problems like crime and blight doesn't make it part of Calgary's inner city.

If you look at a map the airport is about as close to downtown as Forest Lawn is.

Forrest Lawn isn't inner city...

Just because you're ignorant on the subject doesn't mean it's not. It's well known that Forest Lawn is inner city.

This is a realtor's map of the inner city communities. Forest Lawn ends at 52nd St E. That's 32 blocks from 84th St E.

If you live in Forest Lawn, you might be "near" the ring road, but again, you're not the person who the ring road was built for.

Yeah, but all Iginla said was that 84th is three minutes from forest lawn....and it is.

I agree with the comments about the exits and on-ramps being too close to each other. I think there are also actually too many exits. 32nd, McKnight, 64th, Beddington and could be reduced to just 2.

Heavy haulers are horrible. Concrete mixers, dump trucks, semis, etc. These take forever to accelerate back up to highway speed once they slow down. Stoney Trail needs open ASAP to divert these off of Deerfoot.

And did I say anything different than that?

Yeah, that's where the confusion came from.

If you live on the eastern edge of Forest Lawn, you can say both, "I live in an inner city community" and "I live close to Stoney Trail", and both are factual statements.

However, taken together, people would infer that you're making the combined statement of "Stoney Trail is close to the inner city", which is not an accurate statement.

This is a case where something was inferred by the reader that was not necessarily meant to be implied by the writer.

If 84th Street SE is inner city then I think we have to apply the same standard in all directions. Google maps tells me it takes 2 hours and 15 minutes to walk from 17th avenue and 84th street SE to downtown. So, if a 135 minute walk is the new "inner city", then in the north, everything south of Country Hills Golf Course is inner city. In the west, everything east of Bow Trail and 69th Street is inner city. And to the south, everything north of Anderson Road is inner city. Wow...the inner city is...basically the whole city...

I consider myself to live in Calgary's inner city area.
