I really don't want to be that guy, but http://www.allenbergracingschools.com/ ran out of Race City for years!

Unfortunately, I was too young/poor to do this when I first lived in Calgary, and Race City had pretty much closed by the time I moved back a few months ago.

They still have the karting track open and there are at least two more one-day karting sessions open this summer. It's a lot cheaper than running the formula cars (less than $500 for a full day) and you will learn a lot of the same skills.

I really hope this gets off the ground. My sons love going to watch Drag Racing and hopefully a new drag strip can attrack some Top Fuel Dragsters and Funny Cars.

I went to the Rocky Mountain Nationals just south of Edmonton recently. The cars were pretty good. The motorcycles were insanly fast. Three Jet cars as well. We always enjoy a day at the Drag Strip.

Pretty good track at Castrol Raceway but parking was a nightmare. The consessions were always really lined up as well.

Hopefully we can see a Venue built that will attrack top end cars from time to time and make the spectator experience better.

Keeping my fingers crossed!

Would love this to be in Calgary, but no venue and questionable ability to get sponsors.

Nevertheless, the reminiscing CEO does have a personal connection to the local events scene, serving as an intern with the Calgary Stampede in 1988.
“Being there for a summer — five months — and seeing how much the city gets involved in its events, I think it would be a great market for us in Canada,” Bernard said. “I just love the city and the people, it would be great to have a race there.”
Local Ald. Shane Keating has mused about drawing an international racing circuit to a new track being pitched near Airdrie, known formally as the Rockyview Motorsports Park.
“If we can make something like that work, it’s something we should definitely look into it,” he said last month, just days after Edmonton Indy was cancelled.
Officials involved in raising funding for the $30-million project have confirmed that while the development does not hinge on drawing large racing circuits, they could well be accommodated in the existing design.
Bernard said having a track already in place has led to “huge savings” in other Indy cities and added that the local market is one the circuit would never rule out.
