I generally like my dentist, but they harass me with reminders about appointments with phone-calls, e-mails, post cards. I feel like I need a restraining order. You feel like a number in their profit machine.

I am on my third night guard, and they were just under $400 each (covered by insurance). Maybe there are different types though. The type I have requires the dentist to take an impression of my teeth and are crazy hard. They need to be warmed up with hot water a bit to be able to fit over my teeth.

I told him I hadn't heard of that particular program, and that although I didn't believe in a "soul" I was a Ginger supremacist and felt that redheads needed to keep to our own kind. Although as a Canadian I also believed interaction with other hair colours was fine so long as we didn't interbreed.

He asked if I was coming on to him. I said no.

In any case - go get a second opinion. Dentists are nuts.

I just came back from my Dentist. I will be needing 3 root canals. All in all, without benefits, it will cost me $3760. I thought it would have been a lot more.

The minute you get a root canal I'm guessing they'll tell you you need a crown to protect the root canal tooth. It's sad dentistry is pretty openly about making as much money as possible as opposed to providing honest advice and treatment.

I've been having an issue so I called up my dentist. They managed to sneak me in, asked me about 20 questions, said it isn't a tooth problem so no root canal needed and the doc wrote me a scrip for a muscle relaxer.

tl;dr - my dentist seems nice and could have gotten xrays and a whole bunch of other stuff but didn't.

I believe mine was around $350-400. Same thing as psicodude. Dentist had to take an impression of my teeth and it was sent off to be made. It was annoying at first, but I am use to it now.

Damn, this thread is freaking me out a bit. I haven't been to the dentist in probably around six years either.

I too feel some distrust towards dentists. I visited one once and was told I had 3-4 cavities, and that I should get them filled ASAP. I was leaving the country for a while immediately after, so I ended up forgetting about it. Went to a different dentist a year or so later, and my teeth were 100% perfect. No cavities at all, much less 3 or 4. I think maybe a tooth can repair itself if the hole is small? Seems pretty unlikely though. Maybe my second dentist was just incompetent.

Can anyone recommend a Vancouver dentist?

At the end of the day do more research than I did sun. A lot of dentists have really bad reviews online for stuff just like that and my story.

My friggin dentist tried to sell me a 140 dollar toothbrush and a 70 dollar liquid pick/flosser. The more I think about it the more I'm mad at that place.

I am surprised how many people post on here about not going to the dentist for years at a time.
Am I the only one who enjoys going twice a year for a cleaning and checkup?

Wow thanks dude. Great tool.

it's sad i put his name in and ... ya, horrible rating and everyone complains about it being all about sales. puts my mind at ease a bit that a lot of what he wanted done was likely un necessary. I put in my moms dentist and he got a much better rating and people spoke glowingly about him.
