That being said - we've only had it for about a year, so I can't really comment on longevity. Thing is a beast though, terrifies my dogs haha.

That longevity is basically the difference between a Vitamix and a Ninja, as they both seem to their job well enough. The Vitamix is made in the US, and the vast majority of the parts are made from steel. The Ninja is made in China and comprised of lower-quality parts, a lot of them being plastic. There's a reason the Ninja is a lot cheaper, and not all of it is because the Vitamix has brand cache.
I think if you're a casual blender user, a Ninja will do the job. But if you're the type of person who uses a blender every day, and want it to last for many years, then it makes sense to invest in the Vitamix.

I'm going to take the plunge tonight and get the Vitamix at Costco. You should get a cut of the sale from them. You convinced me man!

Ha, watch it break in 2 weeks.
I think it will be a solid purchase. You rarely ever regret buying quality.

I've had a Blendtec for a few months now. Best purchase I've made in awhile and easily matches the quality of a vitamix with a longer warranty (8 years) and more little options at the same price point. Costco had one on sale for $399 just over the black friday weekend and it came with an extra capacity jug and a smaller one. Had a magic bullet before and it didn't do anything near what the blendtec could. Ninjas are running up there in price but only has a one year warranty in most cases and half the power/lower performance.

Just moved from a Ninja to a Vitamix, and there's no question the Vitamix is a superior machine. Blends better and faster, cleans up easy, and has an awesome Warranty. Got a killer deal on it too from OrangeWorks in Northhill.

For a blender I think the best bet is to buy a plastic commercial model from a restaurant supply store. They are priced similarity to the ones sold in stores but are indestructible and really easy to clean.

We've been rocking the Blendtec for almost a year and it is absolutely amazing. It gets daily use I couldn't recommend it more.....terrific!

For those looking at a Vitamix, there is a sale on at the Bay today only. You get the Vitamix Pro 200 blender, with the dry grains container, smoothie bottle, and two recipe books for $550 (regular $750).

I noticed a lot of Jugo Juices used these. You know the quality is top notch if they are being used in an commercial setting.
The pre-programmed features make it a cut above the vitamix my mum has which only has the manual controls. Too bad they don't seem to go on sale as much.

You really can't go wrong with a Vitamix or Blendtec. With the Ninja you are getting what you pay for. It's a decent blender, but they are made cheaply and like to use a lot of buzzwords to try and sell them. If you are on the fence I highly recommend checking out the "Blending With Henry" channel on YouTube to get a thorough review and comparison on all 3.
I prefer the simplicity of the Vitamix over the Blendtec and went with Vitamix 7500 earlier this year and love it. No regrets. People scoff at the price usually because they compare it to your average blender. It really does perform at an elite level in comparison and it's going to be a fixture in your kitchen for decades.
