Take the TP and wipe the seat. Then put it in the toilet as a "landing strip" to prevent splash.

Oh, and max out your view posts per page in your user settings.

And turn off avatars and sigs. The 3 times a year you log in as a guest you'll see all the good ones. The rest of the time they're a waste of space.

Definitely agree with the OP with the don't worry about things that are out of your control. I saved myself so much unneeded stress a couple of years ago. I was flying by myself for the first time ever (to Africa too) and missed a flight along the way due to the volcano ash cloud from Iceland. I made a conscious decision to not worry to much because it wasn't going to get me anywhere faster. It made the trip so much more better.

Oh, and we got three pages and nobody has said wear sunscreen yet?

If I could offer you only one tip for the future, sunscreen would be it. The long term

respected their elders.
Respect your elders.
Don't expect anyone else to support you. Maybe you have a trust fund, maybe you'll have a wealthy spouse,
but you never know when either one might run out.
Don't mess too much with your hair or by the time you are 40, it will look 85.
Be careful whose advice you buy, but be patient with those who supply it. Advice is a form of nostalgia;
dispensing it is a way of wishing the past from the disposal--wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts, and
recycling it for more than it's worth.

But trust me on the sunscreen.

- Drinking lots of water helps control weight.
- Cat to Person Ratio of no more than 1:1
- Boxer-Briefs = Less Swass than Boxers
- Walmart has everything Ikea has, is a better product and is cheaper.
- Buy an insanely good knife to chop Veggies with.
- Dont buy tools from Canadian Tire or Princess Auto.

If your late your late, whether it be 5 minutes or half an hour. People have died not following this rule...

You don't have to be the first person everywhere. Instead of rushing through the door, smile and hold the door for people, you will find your stress level drop off, and you will feel better about yourself. Don't let yourself be walked over.

That's all I've learned so far.

Do what you can to help people, expect nothing in return, refuse payment and downplay praise. People will walk through fire if you need them to and not hesitate.

Show people respect, always. Even if they aren't showing it to you. In Fenway Park when people would give me lip I'd laugh it off, or one up their insult in a self-deprivation way. Show you can take a joke and rather than leave with a black eye, you'll leave with someone that wants to buy you a beer at the bar after the game.

Everything is fixable, mistakes are how we learn and grow

Listen, my good God if you learn to do this you'll go far in life.

Learning that it's okay to say "no". Be realistic in what you can deliver, you might think you appear weak, but don`t try to please people by promising more than you can handle.

I also used to stress out a lot for trivial reasons. The addage not to sweat the small stuff couldnt be more true. If your reaction is the same to your kid not washing their hands before dinner as it is for, say setting your house on fire then you need to put things into perspective.

Don't worry so much about what other people think of you. I came to this realization after Richard Feynman's second biography, aptly named, "What do you care what other people think?". It got me thinking about, why do I care what some random person that I might never see again thinks about me, my appearance, kind of car I drive, etc.

Knowing when to be cheap and when not to be, eg) when is it worth buying a tool at Canadian Tire or at Lee Valley.

I haven't eaten or gone to a fast food chain restaurant in about 3 years. Two reasons - "Food, Inc.", and secondly realizing that for the price I would pay for a meal at a fast food chain, I could spend a few bucks more and go to a good local Thai / Vietnamese / whatever restaurant and eat substantially better food.
