It might not be gluten, my wife got this sports equipment tide detergent for the kid. By the end of the day my skin almost feels like its on fire. Sleep in boxers and in the morning my skin feels wonderful. Its probably industrial grade detergent.

BTW Rice beer isnt half bad and still gets you drunk.
Updating on this, in the last few years I noticed beer and pasta absolutely murdering my stomach. I don't NOT eat gluten, but I avoid as much as I can now. It's pretty stark the difference. And to the below, yes this didn't start being noticeable until I was late 20's early 30's, but in hindsight maybe it always made me feel this way and I was just brought up to ignore things like that.

Had a very heavy gluten day yesterday. Work function, couple beers and pretzel bites aplenty. My arms were on fire last night and guts not good today. I google DM'd gluten arm rash and its the exact thing.

Doctor not helping, some creme that doesn't do anything, blood tests every couple weeks for pretty much a year.

How does it usually present itself?
Yeah, there are a lot of different types of reactions and really there's a lot science still doesn't know/understand about our gut and relationship to the skin but there's definitely something there. I had a psoriasis outbreak for the first time ever a couple years ago and one of the main recommendations was to cut out wheat, lactose and booze. I don't consume a ton of any of those things. Turns out it's a rare psoriasis mostly linked to stress (for me) and a B12 deficiency. I think after 30 #### just starts going down in our bodies LOL.

But the guts thing for sure, that's the main symptom. Immediate bloating and pain. Flatulence. Liquid dumps. Not great. I barfed almost immediately after eating some pizza once. I do think there's a socialized thing in men to ignore these symptoms as just the pain of life. But it doesn't have to be. I've had more than one older male family member give me grief for not wanting beer while flat out stating their stomach hurts too. Like...okay...enjoy.

Yes that and lactose. People are genetically advantaged to be able to consume those things without ill effects. Wheat only entered our diet a few thousand years ago and no other animal consumes milk beyond maturity, so it makes sense it would have a range of effects.

My extreme reaction to gluten didn't appear until I was in my mid-50s. In the space of four months, I went from strong and fit to racked with pain from head to toe, unable to navigate stairs without having both hands on the railing and both feet on each stair because I couldn't make it to the next step with only one foot on each stair.

Got diagnosed with RA, but chose to see if removing gluten from my diet would help. Took me 5-6 months before I started to notice an improvement, but it gradually improved, and after a year, I was pain-free. I occasionally cheated, and I would experience pain the next day. I have two other autoimmune diseases that also flare up whenever I eat gluten.

Never been tested for celiac, but two of my three offspring are celiac. IMO, it is quite easy to eliminate gluten from your diet as there are a lot of options for substitutes. Although I was pretty motivated because, otherwise, it felt like my life, as I knew it, was over.

If it’s ceoliac you would have always had the gene for it but it for whatever reason wasn’t active. Things like stress illness or surgery can cause it to be activated later in life or you have always had the immune response and intestinal damage but just not otherwise symptomatic.

Before cutting out gluten ask for blood work first. There is a box they check off for the gluten allergy test. If you go off gluten bloodwork won’t show the immune response. If positive for antibodies they can confirm with an intestine biopsy.
