Exactly - I've never been a fan. She was pretty good looking back in the day, but I don't even consider what she did porn. What you want is Wiska...

My Week with Marilyn has gotten better reviews than The Iron Lady, and I think that will have some influence on The Academy. Maybe Michelle Williams has a better shot than we think...?

Grass is green. Sky is blue. Meryl Streep wins Oscars. I hope I'm wrong though.

Every year in a thread lime this you get "bad year for movies "and every year it wrong..

A good point, Shawshank Redemption is an all time classic that didn't do well at the box office, didn't win any Academy Awards, but did get nominations. Then subsequently, went on to hold a place in cinematic history.

If you stay away from the Descendants and The Artist, you're missing out.

The Descendants should clean up.
I really want to see Moneyball now before the awards.

Agree 100% I thought it was atrocious. Unlikeable characters that didn't deserve to be felt sorry for.

I will, later, now I am too busy signing up for pottery classes. After that I plan to ride my fixed gear bike past this gallery that is soo last year to the local market to buy some organic gruyere for my fondue party. I really hope the girl with the thought provoking yet soul touching poem tattooed above her left knee will show up...what was I again...?

I think it's sad that 'The Descendants' is considered to be the top dog this year.. wasn't even that good of a movie.

Yup. It was a nice movie but not one I would consider as best picture.

Yeah, good story, amazing acting, solid directing, witty script, what a dog of a movie.
The Descendants was a fantastic movie with the best performance of the year in it. Clooney's best performance by a long shot.

Well, if you're putting up against previous best picture winners, then yeah, it doesn't hold up against a lot of movies, but that doesn't mean it doesn't hold up against a lot of the movies that came out this year. And that's what it's all about.
I can't think of too many movies better than the Descendants that would be eligible for Best Picture this year.

I'm really suprised Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross were snubbed for best original score this year.
I think their Dragon Tattoo score is just as good as The Social Network's, and that won the oscar last year. They're both completely different works, but equally genius imo.

I don't think your righteous indignation of the Oscars separates you from the hipsters. It makes you more like them.

Drive was probably one of the worst movies I've seen 2011.
I did like Moneyball. Brad Pitt was like he was in Inglorious Basterds, but Jonah Hill was good, I used to hate him.
