First job that came to mind was telemarketing - selling home security systems over the phone.

But then I remebered the hell that was being on table duty at the Calgary Zoo cafeteria. 8 hours of wiping down tables, cleaning up puke, and taking out garbage in the humid tropical atrium thing. Longest days of my life.
How long ago did you work at the zoo? I remember table duty at the conservatory too... oh what a hellish job that was!

Cribbing.

Wouldn't do it for less than $40ish an hour. I'm sure for that rate, I'd have to own the company.
That would be the worst job I have had also. It amased me at the time how they couldn't come up with another way of doing it.
Pulling up 4 by 8 sheets of 3/4" plywood crusted with concrete and soaked with oil in hot summer weather sucked big time.
They also work you from 7 AM to 9 PM and try and screw you out of stopping for 10 minutes to eat a sandwich. Brutal. [/b][/quote]
My experience also. Start at sunrise, stop at sunset. Not the life for me.

You think it's bad in the summer... I started in December.

Ummm let's see - it would've been first year University so...1993/1994ish. At first i just worked in tickets/Gift shop but they merged us with food services so we got stuck working in the cafeteria too. Other horrible jobs at the Zoo were Film Shack and the little shack where you rented kiddie carts. I can't believe how many kids threw up in those. The convservatory though was by the the worst.

Crappy jobs? I've had my fair share:

- Delivering flyers, walking door to door putting a flyer in a mailbox for a whopping 5 cents a pop. Do the math - I think I got something like $2 an hour doing this

- Construction - you name it, from demolition to concrete pouring it all sucks. One day I was working in the Olympic Oval scraping the rubber molding out the the expansion joints in the rink - until 9 at night - my knees have never been the same

- Building maintenance - I had to paint the numbers on the concrete part of the parking stalls at the building on 32 Ave and 12 Street - Deerfoot Junction I think it was called - over 300 parking stalls - talk about mind numbing

Oh, and I've worked at McDonalds and Pizza Hut too. Try fishing a guy's keys out of a full bag of smelly garbage in the middle of a Saturday afternoon with a kid's party going on.... and man those ovens get hot!!!

Ok, this is getting depressing... so I will stop now.

Superstore. Aside from meeting Jordan Leopold of course... my the laughs we had! classic!

Actually come to think of it aside from XMas time selling a gaggilllion PS2's to the point of exhaustion I pretty much hung out for 8 hours and watched movies.

I also loved saying "I dunno" to customers as they were asking where something was, when actually I knew exactly where it was... aside from elderly people that is.

The managment at those stores are ridiculous, I think I actually saw my manager at the most 30 minutes a week.

Yup, the restaurant industry is pretty much criminal in the way they treat employees in this city. If the government actually enforced some of it's labor laws in the restaurant biz, they would have a field day.
I'm still traumatized by 20 year old memories of my brief foray in that industry.

Apparently, having the audacity to request a paycheck for services rendered is an anomaly and personal affront for some owners.

I don't want to talk about it any further.
