I agree with both of you - without the English, Canada as we know it doesn't exist and we're just Montana North or Quebec West ( shudders at the thought of either).
We owe England and Her Majesty more than we can ever repay. I almost wish guys who called her "the Old Hag" would be hung for a new charge called "Supreme Asshattery". Can you imagine what this country would be like if India colonized it?
Something like this:
We are forever indebted to Her Royal Highness and the English.
Long Live the Queen!

That's an interesting photo of Prince Phillip - what year was it taken? Just curious as wasn't at one point early on the Nazi's a legitimate political party that weren't always associated with war and holocaust?

The Queen may be a nice lady, but it's the whole insititution in general that I resent.

Hmm, seems like you're ignoring the fact that no ships were actually blocked from delivering aid to Ireland, or that Queen Victoria's calls for aid for Ireland resulted in by far the largest public donations for the cause.
The British government's actions were shamefully slow during the time, but as with much of colonialism, blame ultimately rests with the british government rather than the monarchy which dictated very little of governmental policy at that point. The monarchy isn't blameless, but to single her out as being responsible for any deaths ignores the massive ignorance of the parliament, landlords, and merchants who had far more opportunity to avert the crisis.

Seriously Mikey, England was attacked by the Nazi's and the Royal family put everything they had up to fight against them - what an asinine thing to post. Perhaps you should return to discussing the secret liar below Denver International Airport that's controlling the world?

Just trying to have some fun.....
The Windsor family has German roots.
They lack character. They have shown it over and over again.

There are a lot of reasons to be proud of being Canadian, but being associated with the Royals and ensuring that their progeny are wealthy and privileged isn't one of them.
The whole concept of a monarch seems immoral to me. I don't see how anyone who values democracy, freedom and the rewards of hard work would not feel offended every time a "royal" comes to honour us with their presence.

Because without them you wouldn't have any of these things. We fought no war of independence, the British were smart and civil with us and allowed us to become who we are. You remind me of a spoiled child mouthing off at his parents.

Knew what for a fact? That their ancestors, people who are long dead, did some terrible things?

Who cares where it came from.....
Prince Bernhard of Netherlands and King Edward VIII were also Nazi's.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_VIII
The Royal family and the British government weren't always on the same page. The royals were criticized for this.
Holy over-reaction....

You know that Prince Philip was involved in Convoy defense, and the Battle of Sicily, and the battle of Crete right. And no he wasn't a secret German agent sending info to the Nazi's, and no he wasn't in command of a Uboat, or a German Battleship.
As for the current queen, during WW2, she actually was a mechanic for the ATS

So you took King Eward the 7, and decided that because he was a Nazi Sympathizer the rest of the Royal's were.
Thats pretty dumb logic.
The other members of the Royal family were decidedly not Nazi Sympathizers.

I never said he was a secret German agent. They were sympathizers leading up to the war.

There are more examples half way down this page.
Prince Bernhard was an honorary SS member.

So a diplomatic mission to Germany makes him a Nazi sympathizer. He gave full nazi salutes when he visits, so he must be a Nazi. As already stated in this thread the atrocities that the Germans were committing were not yet know at this point. If you visited the Japanese Emperor, you would bow politely, which is the exact same as saluting a Nazi in pre-WWII Germany. To agree with some of Germany's policy doesn't mean he condones genocide.
Really you are reaching big time.
