I'm sure you can find no possible way to bring water with you, if only they made insulated, portable containers for this purpose.
Yeah, because people love carrying around bottles of water with them everywhere they go...

I don't get it. Are you arguing for or against bottled water?

We normally buy a case every summer and keep it in the van in case we are out and they need something to tide them over before we get home. because this summer was long and hot, I think we bought a second and have half of it left.

Other than that I just have a reusable water bottle in my bag and at work that I use. Kids carry their water bottles around.

I wouldn't drink tap water unless it was filtered. I don't mind filtered water, but what I drink is distilled water.

Neither. Bottled water is convenient at times. 99.9% of times I drink tap water.

Soooo good. I tried it at the Cosmo buffet in Vegas -- best water I've ever tasted. It's also an environmentally friendly take on bottled water. Fiji, meanwhile, is crap.

I own two bottles of water and keep them at work.

Bottle A and Bottle B. One is Dasani and the other Aquafresh.

On Friday afternoon, before going home from work, I wash them, paying particular attention to the rim where the bacteria usually build up. Fill them. Put them in the fridge over the weekend.

Monday morning I'll take out bottle A and drink it during the morning. Then at lunch, I'll refill A, put it in the fridge. Then I take out bottle B and drink it in the afternoon. Then at the end of the day I'll refill B and put it in fridge.

I don't believe this "reusing the bottle is bad for you". Then again, some people won't use microwave safe plastics for fear of chemicals leaching into the food. Some say that the expiration date on the water is when the bottle will start breaking down. If that's the case, my 2008 Dasani is probably mostly dissolved of all chemicals and I'm too far gone .

Wish I lived in a country where I could be confident in drinking tap water. I would give up bottled water tomorrow if I could then.

I live in the country . . . . I'll typically stock my refrigerator with a couple of store-bought bottled water containers recycled with fresh water from my well.

I have a great, pure well. Every once in a while, I'll change the bottles.

To tell you the truth, bottled water from the store has a bit of a funky, granular taste. Disjani is pretty good.

I don't buy individual bottled water, but I do buy the jugs for my water dispenser. I like having hot and cold water whenever I want it without the need to boil it or put ice in it.

Bottled water = tap water from another city.

In Alberta we have some of the best water in the world. I don't know why some folks feel they need to pay for high-quality stuff that flows almost free from the tap, especially given a study I saw that indicated that almost 40 per cent of bottled water is actually tap water anyway. I see these people with cases of water in a supermarket and can't help thinking what are they not paying for, such as retirement savings or the kids' education (but that's the financial planner in me). It's also an environmental nightmare. I don't get it.

No, it's not. I sit on the board of one of the regional waste-water commissions in Alberta. I know what happens to your water to purify it and make it safe.

That person with the case in the supermarket is the least of your worries from a financial side of things. I buy water by the case; and spend maybe $2-3 per month on bottled water. I wait until it is around 10¢ per bottle and stock up. It's handy to have in the car, when camping, or just going out to a sporting event. (Nevermind the stockpile I keep in the Zombie Apocalypse bunker.)

And that is the key for me; if it is as handy as a can of Coke I may just make the healthier choice. I know I could be less lazy; but there are also a number of other things I could do better in my life.

As for the envirnmental aspect, I would be curious to see numbers for Alberta that show how many of these bottles end up in landfills. With our money back recycling program, it makes the situation here a lot better than other provinces and states.
