I'd say having a guard who is a high volume scorer, a veteran big who can board, good team D and being able to hit your free throws are the biggest themes that come up during tournament time.

What else am I missing?
Coaching, guard play, experience and depth.

Watched a documentary about his high school team his senior year. St Pat's. His Mom is a no nonsense, very smart and independant woman. That doesn't surprise me at all.

Coach Cal must be pretty pleased.

Well, Wichita State just wrapped up the regular season with a 23 point revenge victory over Drake on Senior Day.

This team is playing so well right now. I think they are poised for a very deep run in the tournament.

Makes sense for him to stay not sure that pay cut he will have to take in the NBA is worth leaving early for.

Well, no automatic bid for the Shockers as they lose to Illinois State by 1 today in the semi-finals of Arch Madness. There goes that potential 3 seed. I just hope the idiots on the selection committee don't drop them to a 6.

I think it's time for an avatar change in preparation for the Big Dance!

I watched the last ten minutes. I really thought that last shot was going to drop. Go Creighton! Don't let Illinois St steal a bid!

WVU had a really big win today at South Florida. Seems like most think that think that the win put West Virginia in the tournament. We may get DePaul in the Big East Tournament I'm not ready to say that we are in without a win in that game.

EDIT: Yay! No DePaul! We get UConn as a completely defeated 9 seed with no momentum. Where have I seen this before?

Creighton and Illinois State going to OT in St Louis. I'm not watching, can't do it, but rooting for Creighton actually makes me nauseous.

What to do.....

Creighton wins. Missouri Valley doesn't steal a bid.

Wichita State had better be seeded higher than Creighton...that's all I've got to say.

My hopes of West Virginia getting a 8/9-seed are over and will end up with an 11 or 12.

Jimmy Patsos' Loyola made the tourney. Should be a fun coach to watch.
From his wiki:
Quote:
On November 19, 2008 Jimmy Patsos became one of the only coaches ever to coach from the stands during his teams game in an attempt to avoid being ejected by the referees.[7]
On November 25, 2008 Patsos was roundly criticized for appearing to prefer holding Davidson player Stephen Curry scoreless over winning the basketball game by double-teaming Curry while he stood in the corner while Davidson played 4 on 3 against the remaining players.[8] In his post-game press-conference, Patsos justified his strategy by stating that “We had to play against an NBA player tonight. Anybody else ever hold him scoreless? I’m a history major. They’re going to remember that we held him scoreless or we lost by 30?”

Going to the KU game tonight at the Sprint Centre, can't wait! Will post some pics, it's a really cool experience and I love KC's hosting of the Big 12 NCAA tourney. It's a great time of year. ROCK CHALK!!! Go Jayhawks!!!

Texas punched their ticket last night I think... I still think they can be dangerous in the tourney, but most likely will get knocked out by a team with a good frontcourt. Sucks only having one player over 6'7". Can't help but get excited for next year... If J'Covan Brown stays along with the 4 freshman starters, plus 2 of the top 10 centers in the country coming in should be one Barnes' best squads.

6 games later and they are 6-0 and just punched their ticket to the dance.

And it's a bit funny how a potential 10-bid league can have such a horrible conference title game.

Not sure that Michigan State deserved a 1 seed but I guess they want to reward the conference champs.

Don't like the draw Duke got that loss against FSU really sucked.

Can't believe the number 1 seed overall got set up the way it did for the second game. Connecticut and Iowa State either one could be very dangerous against Kentucky.

It's going to be a fun tournament.

I've got 3 horses in the tournament in 3 different regions, though one has virtually no chance of advancing (Montana).

Absolutely brutal matchup for Texas. The Bearcats are playing really well right now.

I haven't seen much or any of Iowa State this year do they have the athletes to compete with Kentucky?

As a Duke fan I dont think we get there but that us a dream match-up for Kentucky.

They have a dominant big man inside and great outside shooting.
