Enough is changed that it keeps people coming back for more. ie maps, guns.
It's probably the same reason the DLC map packs sell well.
They add a few new things here and there, but the core of the game is very similar from game to game.
Almost infinite replayability refers to competing online/ranking up etc...
I can toss in Black Ops and play for a few hours online, do the same the next day, and the same 3 months from now and still enjoy myself.
Like someone else pointed out earlier, COD is almost more of a sports franchise than a strategy/military simulation.

Because not everyone is a fan of run and gun spam MP and i really only wanna try it for the SP and the survival mode thats it. I try out the MP for a day or two to see the maps and general fixes and then throw the game out. Once I play every map a couple times already i pretty much am done with it. Im a coop guy for shooters, competitive MP is just too repetitive for me and gets old fast. Run, shoot, kill, die, respawn, repeat over and over and over and over and over and over.

Never been a huge fan of CoD multiplayer. Too much camping and randomness. BF seem to do a better job of integrating team play and, in general, I find it a lot less frustrating. The CoD franchise seems to be about : 1) know map well enough that you learn all camping spots and snipe from there; or 2) run around like chicken with head off randomly shooting people until you get hit from behind by someone else running around like a chicken with their head cut off.

Camping isn't as prevalent as it used to be in COD, from my experiences...can't argue about of running around like a chicken w/o it's head though...that's pretty much standard; all out offense.
Personally, I play a lot of domination, so there's a little more strategy in capturing and holding the flag points, but it's still mostly about kill/death ratios in the end.

that's where BF3 gets it right. you can see your k/d ratio in your stats page, but it's at the bottom in small text. featured more prominently is your total points and your SPM (Score Per Minute), which accounts for kills, flag captures/defends, support roles, and pretty much anything that helps your team. if you see someone with a very high k/d ratio but low SPM, then you know they're just a camping sniper

Every MW3 Thread on the internet has at least some poster saying COD is **** BF x 10000000000000000 better...... MW3 is a mix of COD4, MW2 and Black Ops.

Yeah, I have to say that I haven't really been stoked on any of the maps so far...
It's amazing how few new COD players there are on MW3...
Everyone is good already.

Well it does wonders when a lot of people have been playing for 15 hours straught haha.
Well i just finished 4hrs with the game. Im done with MP, its the same old same old.
Tried spec ops survival and didnt like it at all, after playing a real survival mode in gears horde, mw3s just felt like weak sauce. Nothing and i mean nothing touches gears 3 horde for true survival gaming.
Tried the mission coop and theyre not bad, but ill run through them once and thats it.
Campaign ill blast through tommorow.
Looks like ill be trading in this game a lot sooner than future shops nov 21. I might even trade it in for battlefield 3.
Im really dissapointed in the MP graphics, SP looks so good but MP alot of the maps look barely next gen and very outdated. Theyre terrible, IW should be able to have the same quality graphics in mp as sP and still have the game run at 60fps. Or at least closer than what it is right now. Right now its almost like im playing two entirely different games. Activision is just flat out lazy. And im playing this on a 55" LCD.

Played single player for 3 hours last night, I'm enjoying it. Haven't touched multiplayer though.
Hoping I can finish single player before Skyrim comes out, then I can jump onto multiplayer when I need a break from Skyrim.
Anyone notice the voices from single player?
Kevin McKidd (again)
William Fichtner
Timothy Olyphant

Super fun so far, but I'm finding the camouflage on enemies is better or something compared with Black Ops and MW2...dudes blend right in.

This franchise continues to grow, you answered your own question: people are stupid. As someone who was a die-hard fan of the series and still believes MW1 is the best multi-player game of this generation, this series is beyond garbage now.
I avoid talking about it with anyone in real life because my hatred for the series now always escalates and I don't want a huge argument. I won't bring up Battlefield as I don't need to. You can argue the awfulness of the series without bringing up the other games.
5 games and you're STILL on the same engine, "oh, it looks even better now though!" Such a load of garbage. IGN bitches about how MW3 is all the same game, but since its "the best CoD yet!" it gets a 9/10. Such a joke.
The video game industry is broken until this garbage of a franchise dies, and sadly I don't see that happening anytime soon with the amount of fools who continue to buy this game.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I think you need to lighten up.
Videogames are supposed to be fun, an escape from reality...Maybe stop taking them so seriously and just have fun with them? Is MW3 the best game ever? Nope. Do I enjoy the story even though it's outlandish and over the top? You bet. Do I like to go play the multiplayer even with it's list of flaws and idiots online? You bet.
Honestly I don't think I've ever played a video game that has made me mad like you talk about. I've played some frustrating sections of games, like a level I can't pass but nothing to get me that riled up.
Also I should mention I have never played the any of the Battlefield games, just seems like there has always been something else out that I wanted to play more. Plus I have played the other MW games and wanted to see how they continue the story.

Just sold mine for $50, saves me the hassle dealing with the rats at Future shop from just trading it in. 4hrs with it was more than enough time for me. Been there, done that, seen it all many many moons before.
Gonna get BF3 now.
