^^^ Its great to see them commit to Kolanos. The guy is the reason we have been playing so well down in Abby. Hopefully he continues his great play and recovery!

What is a standard players contract? AHL contract? or NHL 2-way?

Pretty sure it's an AHL/ECHL contract.

The way I understand it is, there are 4 types of contracts:

1. NHL contract - Can be a two way or one way

2. Standard player contract - AHL/ECHL

3. PTO - Professional try out

4. ATO - Amateur try out

Its an AHL/ECHL contract... if it was an NHL contract the Flames would announce the signing not the Heat.

Krys is back. Scores in his first period return to the Heat!

I can't believe we get Kolanos without burning a contract. double win! I think he could have been worth a 2-way, but at 30 it's a big risk. 14 points in 8 games... can't be THAT big of a risk.

But on Monday, the Heat announced that Kolanos had put pen to paper on a new AHL standard players' contract with the local club.

He scored again in the 2nd. He's playing like a CHAMP this season.

Heat Head Coach Troy Ward spoke about Kolanos' signing of the SPC saying "(it's) one the first stages in his comeback. The first was to prove he's healthy; second earn a contract and the third working his way back to being a perennial player in the AHL."
