Slava, what % of those people that earn $90k and are under 30, are not employed by a O&G related company? I am guessing the number is low.

Going back to the original topic, most industries where you can make $90k, $100k or more by age 30 are either in O&G or connected to O&G. I don't deny you can make six figures in alot of industries, but below the age of 30? Slim chances outside of what I already mentioned. And if someone does, then they are the rare exception to the rule.

I have no idea, but I did think of one group that would qualify....they're the ones camping down in Olympic Plaza today!

I don't have a problem with people telling high school students that they can make 90k or the equivalent by 30. If you work hard, continue to learn and make yourselves more valuable, your probably golden.
I do have trouble with people trying to convince university students that they're going to make 6 figures in what is equivalent to an entry level position. I have a degree in Business Management pay me $100k.
How about no.

You might want to ask Siri what "mind bottling" is

There are a number of industries where you can earn over $90k/year that are not Oil and Gas. I work in one such industry (financial advisor) and there are lots of people I know who make more than $90k and work in industries totally separate from O&G. I know people in insurance, IT, etc. who all make more. Would we have work if O&G weren't here? I don't know....I wouldn't want to find out. But its not accurate to say that you have to in O&G to make that kind of money.

Yup, I am no longer in oil and gas, and the only reason I left is to make more money somewhere else. I work an industry that is completely different than what I used to do now (and I am in my 30s) and there is no shortage of $90k earners.

I'm an accountant in the Retail industry, and I make over the $90K. We pay about middle of the road in terms of the market. Of course, my equivalent job in O&G will probably be higher.

So are you getting comfortable taking off your clothes in front of all of those camera's.
Does the spritzer boy heat the spritzer before he applies it?

Not only do they want $100k, but they want that sweet corner office with an assistant too. Experience? I got a degree!

Do you have a designation? If so, then that'd explain a lot of things.

Lots of high earners posting here...but it appears to be far from the norm Canada-wide. From the article:
StatsCan 2006 census data reveal that the average income of 25- to 29-year olds with post-secondary degrees is $31,648 – just over a third of what the Securities Commission survey respondents said they expect to make.

Yeah I edited out the questions about whether his costar had gentle hands and shaved his knuckles so he would look better in high definition.

Funny enough, I just turned thirty, and just got my promotion. So I just made it in terms of this survey.
And yes, I do have my designation. But like I said, I don't think it's an unrealistic goal coming out of high school. Mind you, it's not easy, but it isn't the same as wanting to drive a Ferrari by the age of 30 either. I would say there are probably a lot of people my age that make around what I make, or probably more. It doesn't even have to be a white collar job either. I would imagine lots of SAIT graduates who are in the trades make good money as well.

Considering tons on this board apparently work in O&G (and related industries, including retail?) and makes over $90k a year (which, I guess, is just average according to some, lol)... anybody here NOT make that?
Only in Calgary could I ask this question...
