Since you've said already have a claim on your policy, the only thing you'd lose (which you already lost) with TD Meloche Monnex is the 5 year no-claim discount.
I was pissed, as I too claimed in the great hailstorm of 2010 and was told it was a comprehensive claim, so no effect on my rates... However I lost my no claim discount!

Thanks to this thread I changed to TD Insurance and am now saving $64/month over Intact. Thanks CP!

yeah but really that is probably 10% off max per year, and how much was the claim for?? More than $500? Really the 10% probably saves you a max of the $500 for those five years based on $1000 premium for home insurance

Damn hail.
I did not even notice the penny sized dents on my roof, however, I sure as hell noticed my damaged windshield.

Seriously? I was paying 3200$ a year in Calgary in 2007. Moved to Victoria that year and got quoted at 1700$/year with ICBC.

ICBC is THE WORST. I was paying $2600/year with them as recently as last year, am now paying $1200/year with SGI (Sask). I'm 30 years old and have never had a claim or any type of ticket in my life.

Yep, I just did an online quote with President's Choice just to see the comparison. I pay $1125 a year in BC; for identical coverage ($2 million liability, $500 deductibles, etc.) it was $2400 a year from PCF.

That's because you moved from a large city to a much smaller one. Everyone needs to keep in mind your rates are based on the city that you live in.
If you moved from Calgary to one of the smaller satellite cities like Okotoks, Chestermere, Strathmore etc...you will pay a lower rate there too.

Considering how many jerks and rednecks I see on the road here, this is hardly surprising.

Is there a deadline as to when you can claim damage from the hail to your insurance company? I've been working out of town, and had not had time to file a claim for the hail damage to my car.
