When I turned 18, I went to the original Desperados. Then spent 18-22 at Outlaws. You guys must be a little older than me, I remember hearing about the Fox and some of those other places, but I never went there.

I was a regular @ the Triangle for years. Always did the wet boxer contests to the Chicken Dance song. They gave me free booze for doing it. Good times there indeed.

I'm not as 'Veteran' as some of you guys and some of these places arent 'old' per se but here goes anyways:
High School:
- The Hop in Brew. Great Pub, never cared that I was underage, one of the best pubs in the city for charm and just overall awesomeness. I still frequent this place from time to time.
- The Ship and Anchor - For soccer fans this place was a must, also didnt care that I was underage. A cop once walked in while my friend and I were in there for lunch and he ID'd us, so I hand him my ID (not fake) and he just looks at it and says "This clearly says you're 16." Yup. "Okay, finish your lunch, pay your bill and leave." Fine. Now its usually too busy to get in to, but the patio is still great on a hot day.
- On Tap. This place was a sketchy dive, but it was central to where myself and 3 of my buddies lived, it was shut down, presumably for health reasons and its location is now the Bermuda Triangle of sub-par drinking establishments.
- The Yardhouse. For when you want to go to Melrose and watch the hockey game but not actually have to go into Melrose.
- The Rose and Crown. When you just have to drink somewhere that used to be a Funeral home. I dont really go here too often, its an okay place, but the food is plain and the service generally borders on 'incompetent' until it crosses the border into 'completely non-existent.'
- Governor's Pub. Great place, great food, great prices, great staff. Still my pub of choice to this day. Partly due to the fact that I've been drinking there for over a decade and I can walk home.
- Top's Pizza. This is the place you go when you dont want to be the grimmest basterd in the room. Talk about seasoned vets, this place is a dark, dingy, filthy, ancient dive. I love it, great memories, spectacular pizza.
University:
- The Den/Black Lounge. I still head back here from time to time for old time's sake. These places are a must, the Black Lounge on St. Patricks' Day is still the craziest place in the city. Both pubs suck hard to watch anything at.
- Moose Mcguire's. Great Pub for sports and you can walk there from Campus.
- The Weaselhead. Cheap drinks and cheap wings. This was a gfreat place to go if you were meeting friends from Mount Royal but didnt want to get stuck at the Liberty Lounge. For a College that was a ripoff of a College pub.
- Austin's Pub. This is South of Anderson on Elbow. What a grim place this used to be, its been totally renovated, but now its too clean, well lit and full of cocktail drinking yuppies.
Now:
- Governor's Pub. troutman can slag Gov's all he wants because hes now a Kensington wine bar yuppy, but this place is still a staple!
- Pete's Peanut Pub. They put up with the CPSW Softball team and Aeneas' drafts. Plus us watching Rugby at 10pm on a monday night. Jody can occasionally be cranky.
- The Kensington Pub. Nice little place.

I'm not quite old enough to have gone to the one on 9th, but I have many fond (if hazy) memories from the original incarnation on 17th.

Used to play Foosball there every Sunday, it got to be where there were quite a few good regular players showing up every week-and any jukebox that has The Smalls on it is a winner to me.

Unless you want to go to the Cat and Fiddle
Also, I miss the Castle pub and Punk Rock Bingo on Tuesdays (especially the game real or fake). I think Punk Rock Bingo is at the Distillery now?
I also miss the old Back Alley, and $1 drinks on Saturdays, before it became this Top 40 d*uche bar.

Terrorized electric ave in the early 90's. Just hope from one bar to the next. Would slug back as many of the cheap vodka slims I could in half an hour at three cheers and than carry on.
But I loved Stinky's. Usually started out there and always went for US college football games there on Saturday afternoons. Wicked wings.
Back Alley still around?
Loved the origianl Republik as well. Big Sugar there was just an insanely loud show.

Funny that I've been to a lot of the places mentioned in this thread, plus all the new bars. I guess that's what happens when you still go clubbing well into your late 20s
My favorite bar from back in the day was Mynt. They even still have their website up http://www.mynt.ca/about.html (weird) Man that place was awesome. 3 levels, great roof top patio. I actually knew one of the bartenders there and he would hook us up with free drinks all night.
