To be more precise, here is my prediction:
Winnipeg- 82 points (11th in East)
Calgary- 79 points (13th in West)
|
Hahahaha - holy ####.
Calgary has finished the last 5 years with 94, 90, 98, 94, and 96 points. There is absolutely nothing to indicate that they are a sub-90 point team, let alone a sub-80 point team.

#2- Nucks
#6- Habs
#18- Flames
#21-TO
#25- Oilers
#26- Jets
#29- Sens
That's how I think it will hash out +\- a position or two by the end of the year

Most likely, considering:
1. We have a relatively young team with potential.
2. Atlanta finished with 80 points last year
3. Atlanta would have made the playoffs, had they not faltered during the second half of the season.
4. The off ice distraction of the ASG wanting to bail on the team.

Vancouver only Canadian team as a shoo-in to make playoffs. The rest will struggle to make the second season. Could also flip-flop Leafs & Habs as I can see the Leafs outdoing the Habs.

The only thing the Jets have right now is good defense. I like Bogosian, Enstrom, Bfuglyien, Stuart, Oduya etc.
Their goaltending is very questionable and your not gonna go anywhere with shotty goaltending.
Forwards are young with potential but arent there yet. Few years away (Burmistrov, Scheiffle, Kane etc.)
Anything can happen, but realisticly the Oilers, Jets shouldnt finish ahead of the Flames.

Schieffle(sp?) could give the Jets a little boost in the energy & points department but not sure if it's enough ? The biggest potential downfall of the team is defence/ goaltending. Still some pretty young, unproven players on the back end. It's a bit of a reach to claim the Thrashers would have made the playoffs if they hadn't faltered in the second half; there are at least 6 other teams (including Calgary) that could claim the same thing but that's the way it goes! The Jets in my mind are very similar to the Oilers; lots of potential young speed & talent but questionable defence. In fact I would give the Oilers a slight edge in goal which is the only reason really that I predicted them to finish a tad higher than the Jets in the season standings.
I suppose based on the fact that the Jets are in the east this season, they could numerically finish higher than Edmonton but I don't see them finishing higher than TO or Calgary.

The fact that you say we in the first sentence has me doubting that you are being very unbiased in this but the fact in the Jets are a much worse team in terms of talent and the youth on the team is very overrated. They have 0 top line guys, zero top pairing defensemen and mediocre goaltending.
They faltered down the stretch and didn't make the play-offs because they are a crappy team and that hasn't changed.
The one thing the Jets do have in their favor is being in the Eastern conference which is pathetic compared to the West.

Can I have what you're having? Winnipeg ahead of the Flames, Flames crashing this hard?

Montreal's not a playoff team without their goaltender.

Soooo, um... good thing they have their goaltender?

I kind of misread your post, so thats why I edited it, but you quoted it first.
Sure Winnipeg can finish with 82 points, however I see Calgary getting more then 79.

At this point I think Vancouver is the only Canadian team I'd say is a 'good' bet to make the playoffs. Mtl/T./Cal are all veeeeery suspect...

That explains why you had the Oilers ranked third.

No, but they aren't on the "playoff" radar

To be fair to them the "playoff radar" is a little premature in its operation at this point in the season.

You have a relatively young team.

The fact that you predict only one additional win (or two OTLs) tells me that even you don't really see a lot of potential.

Calgary would have made the playoffs, had they not faltered during the first half of the season. So how do you put the Jets ahead of the Flames again?

There are a half dozen teams up for sale at the same time that faced the same distraction. Nothing but excuses.

The Jets, Oilers, and Sens are all going to be battling for lotto picks. The Canucks will make playoffs while the Flames, Habs, Leafs will all battle for lower playoff seeds.

Not a very good team last year. They are basically unchanged.
