This thread is a great reminder of how terrible 80's music really was.

With the odd exception of course.

Very 80s. Full of bangs, mullets, unnecessary running, piano in the middle of nowhere, ...and an Owl God in war paint?

Hi again everyone!

In my endless search for songs that I don’t have, I recently googled “80s music” and stumbled onto this thread. In conjunction with this, one CPer recently indicated some of you actually missed me on these forums. Don’t know why, but hey… to each there own I guess!

Anyhoo, as a licensed DJ, and one that partied so far over the top in the 80s, perhaps I can be of some help with your lady friend.

There have been some great recommendations in this thread so far… kudos to everyone!

I actually started to go through every song I had that fit the pretty broad “80s” category. I know MaDMaN_26 indicated nothing “too heavy” but in hindsight, not much really WAS too heavy back then per so, as compared to now. OK, “Judas Priest – Turbo Lover” might be an example. I remember (sort of) drunkenly dancing to that at the bar in Marlborough Mall back in the day….

Regardless, I have tons of suggestions at my fingertips if you like, MadMan. Perhaps you could provide some insight into what aspect of the 80s music your friend really likes… what genres/songs DOES she like… I could then give some similar suggestions. Pick out some songs she likes, and I can probably give you a bunch that she will also like.

Cheers all!
Shawn

PS, for what it is worth, I have a weekly gig in Airdrie at Killarney’s Pub on Saturday nights. It is “All Request” night, based on 80s, 90s and best of today type music. Basically I am a human jukebox! If you are in the neighbourhood, stop by and say hi!

PPS. Yes, I too missed a lot of you all. It has been a while…

Man, some great memories in here. Managed to spend a decent chunk of the night re-acquainting myself with this music via youtube.

The sad part is that all these bands have a good songs that never get airplay. I don't understand why we always get the same 1-2 Cancon songs from these bands over and over again.
