That may have been the worst 30 minutes of television I have ever watched.

Getting past the utterly stupid funeral where it was clear that the creators of the show wanted to try to "win" against Charlie Sheen, that was outright terrible.

charlie Sheen at least had an easy going natural charm that allowed Jon Cryer's character to be annoying as a balance point.

Well I never thought I would find a character that would annoy me more until Ashton Kuhcher or whatever his name rolled in. The guy is not only completely devoid of charm, but he has the acting chops of a stick. Basically its almost like the producers told him to be Charlie Sheen.

The guy is going to get the Ted McGinley reputation as a show killer. He pretty much killed that 70's show when he became the focal point of that show, and he's going to kill 2 and a half men.

That was terrible

I'm just waiting for the roast of Sheen now, and i'm confident that that will be much better than what i just watched.

Although the episode wasn't great, I almost died laughing when he spilled the ashes

Horrible episode. AShton is a dimensional character. Keso (sp?).

This show will last a year and thats it.

I'm undecided. I don't think we got to see enough of Ashton's character. The next episode will help me decide if I keep on watching.

What's with all the Kutcher hate? He's not the best actor, but I find him funny. This is a narrow-minded sitcom, not a Hollywood blockbuster. Charlie Sheen played his role perfectly and Kutchers going to be a different character. I'll give him a chance, but I doubt I'll get back into Two and a Half Men

I'm pretty sure what killed That 70's show was when he and Topher Grace quit.

What does that have anything to do with how awful of an actor he is. All that does is solidify my point on how awful he is. He makes Vin Diesel look like an Academy Award winning actor in those movies.

I don't know, I thought that Kutcher was trying to play Charlie Sheen playing his character.

I found that he was awkward instead of funny, and the other characters are too annoying to cover for it.

I find all the hate after one episode funny. Just proves that people went in with their mind made up already. "Ashton sucks, the show sucks, the show will be cancelled in a couple months." Kutcher is in a lose lose situation.

For 8 seasons, the show has flourished with low brow humor, and nothing that Ashton did tonight changed that. The show had the exact same tone as every Charlie episode.

For the record, I'm not a big fan of the show, but it's got the odd giggle here or there that have me as a casual viewer at best. I will watch until I get tired of Ashton and after one episode, I'm not there yet. It was far from great, but the "worst ever" kind of comments are a tad pre-mature, no?

Just enjoy it if you don't like it try something else. So the ppl that have decided "horrible show, Kelso is garbage etc etc" we shouldn't have to read your comments next week since you won't be tuning in?

The episode wasn't that great. But I think it had more to do with the writing than the acting personally.

First of all, they had to kill a character off, then they had to bring in another main character and give him a reason to be in the house and eventually take Charlies place. Kutcher had to try and be depressed and suicidal and then bounce back and be funny all in 14 minutes or so while still having reasons for everyone to be hanging out together.

Now I'm not saying I think Ashton is a great actor by an means, but I don't think this show is beyond him. He's usually good in stupid comedies. I think the real problem is the writing, and that seemed to be getting stale in the last year or two before anyway. This show probably will tank, but I'm not sure anyone could have saved it at this point. I don't think it had very long in it even if Charlie Sheen did stay.

For me that was a slightly funny and typical 2 1/2 men type episode. My beef is with Ashton since I've never been a fan of his, but he did what you'd expect and there were some laughs.

I just don't honestly see this show lasting beyond this season, Sheen was ideal for that role and its so hard to keep a show on air thats been the same cast for so long to only lose its star suddenly.

It was better than I was expecting (especially since I read this thread before watching it). I didn't know any details prior to watching it other than kutcher was replacing sheen. I assumed 'replacing' meant replacing a la aunt vi on fresh prince or Becky on Roseanne (as in kutcher was to play charlie). The writers didn't have a lot of options and I think they did okay with what they had. I only watched the show if ther wasn't much on when I was channel surfing, although I found it had a few hilarious moments ( the episode with Chris o'donnel in particular). I'll give it a few episodes to see how it progresses after the transition. I can see it running for at least this season and the next, even if its just out of spite.

As far as this episode was concerned, I got a chuckle out of John stamos' cameo.

The wife and I laughed while watching the show...and in the end, that's all that matters IMO.
