Hitmen complete a trade:
Quote:
The Hitmen have acquired 18-year-old center Joey Kornelsen, 20-year-old defenceman Collin Bowman and a fourth round pick in 2012 in exchange for 19-year-old forward Justin Kirsch and 20-year-old center Kenton Miller

On paper its an excellent deal for the Hitmen. They get rid of 2 older forwards with a younger center coming back which opens ice time for some of the young kids they have up front. Bowman will hopefully add some offense from the blue line, something they really haven't had since the championship year.

Jeebus, I just noticed that Lethbridge is on a 13-game losing streak. Will Mumbles make it through the season down there?

Yes because the board is too cheap and too stupid to get rid of him.

I thought of that. But SOP for such incompetent boards is to deflect the blame as a means of self preservation. Firing Preston and bringing in some other stooge buys them a couple more years.

They just changed the President of the board in the off-season so perhaps they will use that to buy them some time.
I think what might happen is that Preston will step down as coach and stay on as GM and use the youth and prospects BS that some fans seem to have bought as an excuse as to why he will stay on as GM. Ignoring the fact that teams like the Hitmen and Wheat Kings have already passed them after having Memorial Cup teams in the past two years and that this youth should be doing more than helping this team lose 13 in a row after two years of being bottom 5.
Preston seems to be on a Burke like 5 year plan with the problem being, as you likely know, that with the cycle of players in the CHL a 5 year plan means you are an f'ing awful GM in the league.
The problem with Preston just leaving the coaching is that I see Kabayama being promoted to coach and I am not sure that changes anything really.

They couldn't score to begin with but now they are missing key forwards with injuries, the import goalie is out long term. Dumba and Petrovic are WJ camp. Really clear that RNH made that team much better than what they are.

Dub trade deadline tomorrow and 2 blockbusters already. Lethbridge sent Cam Braes to Moose Jaw and Victoria sent Kevin Sundher to Brandon.
Not expecting the Hitmen to do much but Kisio usually makes a big deal at the deadline. Speaking of the Hitmen, they have really been playing some good hockey since about mid-November. They are tied for 6th in the East now.

They picked up Henrik Samuelsson late last week, good addition that didn't cost them anything. If they make a move, it will be for a blue liner.
Weal was rumored to be on the move but after Regina's pick up this morning, he is likely staying put.

Somewhat surprised that Lethbridge didn't make a couple more trades. Very funny to read the article about Cam Braes being traded to give him a chance to play in the playoffs, in order to help him get a pro contract. Then in the next breath they feel that they can make the playoffs. Really!?! Really?!?. Who are you fooling, Preston? The team sucks, players don't want to play for you. Should have been more than just Braes being shipped out. Could have really stock piled the cupboard with picks and prospects, which seems to be something Preston likes to do anyway. There is a reason why season tickets are down, and the building is always empty and quiet. It isn't because the team is losing (well that is a part of it), but the people see the way it is being mismanaged. The fans would suffer through a losing season or two if they team had good management but it is being completely messed up from the board on down to the coaching. I feel sorry for the players that come through Lethbridge lately, they aren't given a good chance to be winners.

I read that Sutter asked for a trade but Preston couldn't find a deal where the return was to his liking. I can't see the Canes improving until they make massive changes to upper management and maybe its goes beyond Preston, how much control does the board have down there?

The board likes to get involved too much.
