Heh, no kidding. I was at the gym the other day, working on some pull-downs. I saw this guy who would take on a huge pile of weight, lift it once or twice while grunting loudly, slam the weight down, then to a circuit around the gym before doing it all over again.

On one circuit, he stopped, flipped his shirt up, checked out his abs and then kept walking. I was trying so hard to stifle the laughter I just about lost the bar.

Don't act like this at the gym, and hardly anyone will notice you.

Just remember to buy your Gatorade at Superstore and not at the convenience store so you don't get "totally" ripped off

Make sure you wear the right clothes - get one of those shorts with the bibs like the guys wear in the tdf and get a compression shirt, and get socks that come up to just below your knees....you'll blend right in while you are shining up the apples

If you're really scared of going to the gym, you probably just shouldn't bother. I used to be only 145 lbs (at 6'6"), and was constantly mocked by all the muscleheads at my local gym. I started doing steroids and eating nothing but meat, and shot up to 260 lbs of lean muscle in only 3 months. The best part? No working out.

I went back to that same gym after my program and ended up beating up a couple of those dumb jocks in the parking lot after I beat them in a bench press challenge and stole one of their girlfriends (just by winking at her while I pretended to struggle with my 10th rep at 350 lbs). I guess they took offence.

Then I peeled out of there in my Camaro blasting AC/DC and slamming a protein shake (with the girl on my lap).

It was awesome.

I used to work out at the U of L when I was about 19-20. I looked pretty darn good. One day I went some members of the Pronghorns hockey team was there. The captain kept looking at me, making poor attempts at stifling smiles and giggles. He'd go over to some other Pronghorns and point at me and laugh. I didn't go to the gym very much after that. I made excuses to myself like "it's going to be too busy to get good time in on the equipment I need", or "I'm not going to have enough time to do my full program."

So I stopped going altogether. I bought my own bench and weights and worked out at home. That was ok for a while, but the distractions of home kept prolonging the distance between and/or the length of my workouts. Now I just rely on playing hockey to get my exercise. I found another workout program that is awesome, but the distractions of home get in the way of that.

If you can't workout at home, then the only way you're going to get a decent workout is by going to the gym. Suck it up, ignore the other people who are looking at you, unless it is someone you find attractive (and you're single) and go to the gym. My example is like a 1 in a million occurrence. Now I just need to listen to myself. I really miss weightlifting.

lol. Sadly, no. I became more like... Puff. But I've been playing a lot of ball hockey and ice hockey over the past three years, so I'm not quite Puff anymore either as I've lost 60 lbs. and counting. I'm almost at my weight when I was weight lifting, I'm just not as muscular as I was then.

Drives me nuts when a stupid thread like this gets created and then the OP doesn't come back to respond or thank the people taking time to give legit advice.

Its because he's not looking for any actual advice, he's just trolling.
