I have wide feet also. New Balance seems to be the only shoe maker that makes 4E wide shoes.

Skates: RBK and one other brand (can't remember now because I didn't buy them) I can size down 2 sizes to a 12. The ones I have right now are actually pretty comfy, they never hurt from day 1.

Bowling shoes: Soooo true. Mine always look either pristine, or twice as old as the rest because they never need to be replaced because they never get used.

I've wanted Pumas for my whole life. I went to the Puma store in San Francisco and asked what size they carried up to and they said 15 I think. I pointed out 4 shoes I liked and asked if they had 14s. They took 20 minutes, came back and said no. Then I asked if they could bring whatever they had that was bigger than a 13. They took another 20 minutes and said they had no shoes bigger than a 13. Ugh.

I found some online on the US store that I liked for $80. I tried to order and they said I had to use Puma.ca. $160 for the same shoes. Ugh. No thanks.

I worked in a shoe place for a couple months and i remember a man coming in looking for size 5's. I told him to try the kids section and he got really pissed off.

Also, eBay might be a good option.

I just did a search for men's shoes in size 17 and got 1001 results.

Not sure if you've tried (probably), but try New Balance. I too have wide feet and New Balance is about the only company I can wear. No Nike will fit me, nor will Adidas. I have had luck with Reebok with finding a wide shoe.

Right now I have a pair of Converse's and they feel awesome.

Wow, look at all the choices!

I've never ordered anything wearable from eBay and didn't even think of it.

I've been having a hard time finding socks lately. Usually Wal-Mart have extra large sizes, but they haven't the last couple of times I've been there. Just looking for white ankle socks to wear with shorts - anybody have any good hook-ups?

Bought socks and two pairs of shoes on www.oddball.com today - should have them next week. Thanks to whoever posted that link.

Socks are a tough one. Usually I just hope the ones I buy are stretchy enough to fit comfortably.

While not ankle socks, Marks has (had?) socks made out of bamboo fiber which are so comfortable. They carried up to a size 13-15, IIRC. I picked up about two dozen pair a few years ago.

Default Large Black Dress Shoes Size 15 EEE Extra Wide to say the least

I remember when I used to dread looking for large shoes. I could find sneakers alright for my size 15 EEE Extra Wide feet, but a guy needs more than just sneakers all the time. Stores gave me the same run around too about ordering the shoes in, paying shipping and the like.

I was pumped when I found XLfeet.com. Not only do they have an actual store in my area - I live in the Minneapolis, St Paul Twin City Area - they refuse to carry a shoe either on their website or in the store, unless it is made to at least a 15/16. Heaven!!

The guy who owns it wears size 16 Wide, and he knows exactly, and I mean exactly what we go through. He had everything too. Slippers, socks, insulated rubber boots, work boots with composite toe, cleats, golf shoes. I could go on, and frankly I almost want to get a tattoo that says XLfeet on my back.

I always thought a store like that was more like fantasy. I even brought my grandpa in who also has big ones, and he told me he hadn't been able to try on that many big mens shoes for nearly 60 years.

When I was there I ended getting these Florsheim Corvell Black Slip On Dress Shoes Size 15 EEE Extra Wide. They look sweet, and He had all kinds of socks that actually fit. I got some of the low cut no show socks. It's awesome to finally have some low cut socks that actually stay on. The ones i used to wear would slide down to the middle of my foot with just a few paces. The Wigwam Socks I got though stay up, and they have vents which wick the moisture up and out of my shoes.

I know i went a bit long, but you have to admit. Us tall guys with big feet have it so bad. Or at least we used to. When they say "Fitting extra large feet is no extra large feat", they mean it.
