We see all this neat stuff, but we have no idea WTF it is or what we would do with it. Have shopping tours. Put little notes under the product what you could use that foam horn sponge thing for with associated recipes. A little note that says "key ingrediant for honky style ginger beef" or "use this flavour packet with ichiban to make it taste like pho".
Mix a small pinch of ground star anise, ginger, cinnamon, and clove into your broth to get more of that Pho phlavour!

Walmart - you couldn't pay me to go there
Superstore - cheapest prices, worst selection of items, horrible produce, empty shelves at times, especially at night, often understaffed
Co-op - average prices, average selection of items, good produce, stocked shelves
Sobeys - higher prices, selection varies based on store size, good produce, best deli, stocked shelves
Safeway - highest prices, best selection of items, good produce, stocked shelves

Costco - best meat, limited selection, good prices, just avoid unnecessary items

I'd say Safeway is the best, but you pay too much for it. Superstore makes me want to kill people. So I tend to balance it out and go to Co-op.

Guess I'm the only person who regularly goes to Sobeys? I guess two of them being close to home helps, but still.

I find the T&T store in Harvest Hills to be the cleanest of all the other grocery stores in the area (Sobeys, Superstore and Safeway). I don't often buy my groceries there, but I'm a big fan. The hot/cold "deli" items are waaaaay better than any other grocery store as well.

It doesn't even smell that bad usually.

I get the rest of my groceries at Sobeys as I only like to buy 1 or 2 days worth of produce at a time and it's really close to my house. The prices at Sobey's are pretty fair.

Edit: Oh ya, when you go to Costco, buy these! Freakin' yum!

There's a fair amount of non-Asians that shop there. And I've never once been sick from anything I've ever bought there, but like most grocery stores, you have to make sure what you pick out is fresh and not about to expire. It's clean, safe, and as sanitary as any other large grocery store around.

Honestly, I think non-Asians watch too much television. Not pointing fingers, just saying in general

Finally a mention of T&T. Having lived in montreal though, going to these big chains make me really sad. I used to love going to the fish store, then fruit and veggie store, then meat store then bread store on the way home. The owners owned the place and represented. So cheap too (2 avocados for a dollar.. yeah).

Just can't agree with this. I have shopped all around and if you watch for the items on sale with club card savings, you will not spend anymore than any other store.

Good man! I always wondered who bought the apples, bananas, and Wonderbread from 7-11. Now I know.

I didn't even think of that. Back in my barely-making-minimum-wage days, I used to always stock up on 10% Tuesday.

Perhaps they should have had more than one checkout (plus the self-checkouts which had about 10 people in line) open.

I have a bad experience with Superstores. When I was 11, I went to use the washroom at the one in West Edmonton. There's a guy passed out on the floor. Why not eh?

Wherever things are cheap cause I'm cheap!

Have to memorize all the in-store specials.

The wife and I get almost all of our produce from DJ Market during May to October. There are lots of great items and they are all super cheep. We spend way less on good quality produce.

Other than than DJ, we shop primarily at community and safeway. We also get random items from costco (ling ling) and walmart (cat litter, paper towels, etc) from time to time.
