Kevin Smith: Red State tour Calgary Aug 17

I'm also a hardcore Smodcast listener, and the Q&A wasn't anything new to me, but it was still cool to see him tell those stories in person. Hopefully he'll have some fresh content the next time he's in town because I'll definitely be going.

I'm not a horror fan, so I didn't have huge expectations for Red State. The beginning with the kids didn't do much for me, but I really got into it when John Goodman showed up. There were definitely some great performances and it would thrill me to no end to see a Kevin Smith movie get some kind of Oscar recognition, no matter how unlikely that is.

What happens at a Kevin Smith show? Is it two hours of talking about weed?

Surprisingly: not really.

He's just a really good storyteller that has had some funny stuff happen to him.

He usually does a Q&A but when people ask him a question, he'll go on a 15-20 minute tangent about something that is slightly connected to the question (hence:the funny story) and then circle around and answer the question.

He's just really candid about his life and I enjoy dick/fart jokes That's why I like him.

Shocking fact is that Kevin only started smoking weed a couple of years ago. I'd say about 2009.

And I also got my DVD yesterday.

An Evening with Kevin Smith (his first long ass Q&A DVD) is still one of the best ever for stories, including Smodcast and HBO.

I can hear him tell the zipper story or the Prince story about a million times and laugh every single time.
