I had to turn Deathly Hallows pt. 1 off midway through. Terrible.

I really enjoyed it. I didn't realize it was in that new fancy theatre at Chinook until it was too late.

Stating that the use of some means of getting to a destination without wasting chapters or screen time is a good thing and contrasting it with the LOTR which wasted epic amounts of time on showing characters stroll everywhere, backtrack, do something, and then go home again.

I only made it as far as book 4 than I guess I grew out of it once I stumbled on to the Dark Tower series (which I can't wait to see adapted to film sometime in 2014 ) I've seen a lot of the movies which aren't terrible, I just wait until they are free. :P

Just got back from seeing the film, my perspective:

1. Emma Watson is a Goddess. I could seriously watch that woman grout tile for an hour and a half without blinking.

2. This is the first film I've felt hasn't suffered from lack of a narrator. From the very first movie I've been of the opinion that every single one of them would have been strengthened by having Patrick Stewart narrate. Eg: "Much of the Winter passed this way: Hermione working on the Polyjuice potion, Ron refusing to talk to either Harry or Hermione and Harry obsessing over the (insert title of book here)".

However, considering that Deathly Hallows 2 is, in large part an extended climax, and is also the only one of the films that takes place over a very short period of time - just a few days - it wouldn't have needed the narrator (also, had the convention been established, the sudden lack of it would have both heightened tension and helped give a sense of the speed at which events are happening).

3. I want to re-read all of the books all over again right away. I have absolutely no idea how someone could have gotten all the way through Goblet of Fire and not immediately dived right into Order of the Phoenix. And if anyone hasn't read the books yet, go do it now.

Well, I suppose you probably have to care for the characters to really understand this one.... I loved it, I suppose because action doesn't really do it for me. I imagine that this would be a film that was more enjoyable to the readers than the people that only watch the films.

Negatory on Dark Towers. The original pitch from Ron Howard an co. has been denied and there is currently no plans.

Their plan was to do a movie, then a tv series, then a movie to close it off. That was not green-lit and currently they are seeking out other studios.

Great movie. Even my gf who hasn't followed the series and fell asleep through part 1 really liked this movie.

Well, if you read Goblet of Fire when it came out, how would you read Order of the Phoenix immediately after?

Hmm, let's give him the benefit of the doubt and assumed he meant if you didn't.

As someone who didn't read the books and hasn't seen all the movies, it is VERY confusing. But I can't fault them for that...I can't walk in to movie number 7(8?) and expect to know what is going on.

Aside from being very confused and noticing some inconsistencies(sooo can they teleport or not?), the movies are produced with such a quality I find them rather entertaining.

I went last night for my second viewing. I found it to be less rushed the second time around. Still cried!

Ah, well, that's bound to happen then.

They actually make all the reasoning and answers much simpler in the movies... it's much more complicated (but in my opinion, much better) in the books.

Which is the telltale sign of a bad movie adaptation.

I didn't read the books but I knew what was going on. Did you see the previous movies?

I haven't followed the series at all (never read the books and have only caught bits & pieces of the films), but my wife wanted to make a date out of it so I watched part 1 on bluray & part 2 in the theatre.

Not being a fan of the series part 1 bored me to tears, I turned it off the first time and played some NHL 11 and finished the last hour the next day.

Part 2 however was decently entertaining, I still have no real interest in catching up on the series, but the Deathly Hallows pt 2 was entertaining enough to enjoy it as a non fan.
