I spent 3 weeks in Minnesota vacationing at my brothers lake house and the weather there was hot. Temps in the high 80's with 5 days where the temps and the humidity put it into the 100's. I loathe humidity and extreme heat! Thank god for a lake to swim in everyday and lots of beer on the golf course

Glad to be home where the cool weater is more to my liking.

DFF, you have my sympathy.

Really? At that point it's just painful. I like hot weather, but I prefer dry hot. I don't enjoy feeling like I'm walking through a smog of water. It's harder to cool down, plus being damp all day really sucks.

I'm really not sure how you guys live in such extreme weather.

I'm very happy with my city's mild, moderately wet winters and warm, very dry summers. (Only place in Canada given the climate designation of "dry-summer subtropical")

Temperatures rarely go above 23 or below 0. Today's nice and sunny, 18 degrees.

Today was the 38th day in 2011 that the high temperature in Wichita was 100 F or more. 38. Every 7-day forecast I can find has highs of 100 or better all 7 days. 18 of the last 19 days have been over 100 F. The other day it was a chilly 98.

The high today was 111. 3rd time we've been over 110. The forecast high for tomorrow is 114 which is the all time high recorded temperature here.

I've pretty much had it.

That is unreal DFF. I saw on the news today that many of the southern States like yours and Texas are going through much the same thing. It has to be brutal having to stay indoors most of the time to avoid the heat. Then there's the added cost of running the AC 24/7.

You have my sympathy.

People in Missouri are dying because they refuse to use their AC due to fear of the costs. My parents told me it got up to 50C (with the humidex) at their place today.

I realize you are joking, but just curious....is there a discernible difference between 99 and 105? I suppose it would depend on humidity, but to me it would seem like here when its -30 or -35. I can't tell the diff, it's just minus stupid cold and I cant feel much difference till it gets above -20. At what temp down there can you actually feel relief?

I think a 5 degree shift is fairly significant. There is a difference for sure between +25 and +30

I don't know. Humidity definitely makes a huge difference. Given the same humidity and 99 vs 105? I think I could tell, but does it really matter? Nope. Hate it all the way around.

My electric bill was $330 last month. Highest ever by far. It would take a lot more than that for me to even consider turning my air off. As it is now, we're fighting to keep the temperature in here below 90.

It hit 120 degrees in Iraq this past week. 107 sounds like a breeze!

Time to shut off the AC, and take a vacation to Canada.

50 C (120+ F) with insane humidity and hot wind in Kuwait is the most uncomfortable thing I've ever experienced. I definitely couldn't handle it for more than a few days in a row.

I feel your pain DFF, i moved to Taipei a week ago and since then, every single day has been above 33 and with staggering humidity. My body is reacting strangely to the climactic shifts and the constant changing in temperature going from AC'd interiors to outside is giving me a cold.

Also, the near-constant hangover isn't helping.

I think in extreme SW Missouri we had the 3rd or 4th hottest day since 1950 ...110 F similar as Wichita. Normally you like a bit of a breeze but today any time that breeze picked up it was like the burst of hot air you get when you open the oven. Monday we are supposed to get a break with temps "only" 99 F or something. Since the last week or so of June we've only had 3 or 4 days below 100 F for highs.

I really don't want to see our power bill....but i have no issues with keeping my house at 78-82 F when I'm in it. I really just laugh at the few people trying to keep their lawn green.

On July 18, Eden Prairie, MN was the hottest place on earth. I was there on vacation and let me tell you, those stories about Minnesota being cold sound ridiculous. Something like 53c when you factor in the humidity.
