as a unloyal and disappointed rogers customer, i only hope the likes of bell, etc, get in gear and become real competition soon so that canadians finally are not in the world's basement when it comes to telecomm and broadband service/quality/price.

the fact that a nation as rich as canada, has such a poor grade in this area is a frigin joke, and the fact that the government and service providers work hand in hand to keep this going is absolutely unacceptable.

I swear, they are all in this together. They meet in some underground lair every fall and say "keep up the bad work boys. What are they gonna do, not have a cell phone? Put an antenna on the roof? They'll need one of us! Ha ha ha ha. Waiter, more brandy, and bring us your finest cigars".

I'm pretty sure they made Steve Gutenberg a star, too.
This post is hilarious (in the "it made me lol" kind of way) but I just don't agree. I've been using telecom companies for 15 years and have bounced from Bell to Telus to Shaw and back (wait, never back to Bell). The difference with Bell is that they seem to get vindictive when you want to cancel (or need to, as was my situation when I moved across the planet).
Why do they make it so difficult to just cancel? Why do they lie about the fees? Why do they lie about sending you the boxes to return their equipment? Why do they lie about receiving the returned equipment? Why do they lie about receiving the balance owing? Why do they pull that "ooh, I have to transfer you to ______ department" garbage where you wait on hold for an hour? The last one is absolute crap. It's a CSR that is just screwing with you and leaving you on hold because you finally got frustrated and asked to speak directly to a supervisor.

Bell is a different beast. Telus and Shaw don't get their panties in a bunch over cancelling service. I've cancelled with Telus and Shaw multiple times. Hell, I've bounced back and forth from them to scoop deals from the other for years. They don't get pissy about it, they make a better offer and if you don't take it, they simply close the account. It doesn't take a dozen phone calls. It doesn't involve paying the same bill multiple times. It doesn't involve getting a collection agency sic'd on you.

Only with Bell. Damn thieves. Bunch of lying thieves.

The only thing I remember about Bell is them taking 2 years to stop charging PST on my inlaws when they moved from SK to AB.

It ended when they switched carriers for their TV delivery.

More like 20 minutes - 2 hours. I get that you work for them or whatever, but that's like a small chested woman trying to claim she's a 36 DD. Why lie when we can see your chest? And why lie when hundreds if not thousands of people from CP are with Bell and know you're BSing?
I do not agree with you I barely have to wait to call Bell either. I only deal with them regarding my TV but it has always been fine.

My only real complaint with Bell is how slow you get your credits fixed.

Bell has some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced. Took about 5 tries before I actually got through to someone who knows what to do.

Dell is a close second.

Companies that end in "ell" suck.

Funny how one's experience can be so different from someone else's. I'm on my second go-round with Bell and I've never had anything but smooth sailing with them. Signing that 3 year contract with Telus back in Jan '07 on the other hand, could actually be in my top 5 worst decisions I have ever made, what a nightmare that was.

Never had any problems with Bell until I cancelled. They were great other than that. And frankly I like their TV service better than Telus Optik. It's not night and day like compared to Shaw, just marginally better. It is just too expensive to not bundle.

Been with Bell Mobility since May 2005 and don't really have anything bad to say about them. Usually under a 5 minute wait time when I call to speak with customer service. Then again I've probably called three times in six years, and I haven't tried to cancel or anything.

I am with Shaw and Fido and I have no complaints. It is all good.

A couple months ago my daughter lost her phone. Yes. I had to pay the cancellation few and all that. But they made it easy and the total outlay was about $170 for a new iPhone with a new three year plan. Minus the $65 in Fido dollars.

Somebody screwed up the transfer and my daughter was being charged for every text message. Which was about $1000 over two months. I phoned Fido and explained what happened. They looked into it and said. You are correct, we made a mistake. Then they fixed it. Adjusted the bill to the proper amount.

Last week I had 4 people from Telus come to my front door. Yes, there were 4. All with clipboards. They were trying to give me a deal to switch over. I said no. They couldn't understand why not. The one guy kept trying to 'give me quote'. I said, give me your card and maybe I will call you some other time. He said. "I am not going to give you a card. I will give you a quote and he starts writing some stuff on his clipboard."... I said.. :Shove your quote and closed the door. LOL
