Wow surprised by the hate in this thread, Metric & Tokyo Police Club are both established Canadian bands, yes their more x92 than CJay but their far from nerdy basement music.
I'm totally surprised at the hate on this thread. Both great bands. I assumed most people on here would be impressed by this lineup. I'm guessing now most of you would have preferred Nickelback which personally - would have taken this hangover from slightly uncomfortable to angry vomit level for me.
Now I'm definitely bringing binoculars to check out Emily Haines. I'm far from hip when it comes to music, but I know both of these bands and like their stuff. This is a nice little added bonus.

Holy ****, Metric is performing today at Heritage Classic?! But they're not an all-male alt-rock band that peaked in 2001! (Nice, NHL) about 1 hour ago via web

In all seriousness, Metric is a pretty solid band. Nice to see them not going with either A. a band in their 50's or B. a band that was mostly popular 10 years ago and really isn't anymore.
IIRC, CBC also used Metric's "Stadium Love" for the intro of the All-Star game.
And the song "Gimme Sympathy" was used as an opening for Hockey Day in Canada last year. I believe Bobby Orr was The Beatles and Wayne Gretzky was The Rolling Stones.
Just to clarify my comment, it isn't intended as hate. I have literally never heard of them until this very thread, so I just don't care. Whether they are there or not does not affect (good enough for you Bring_Back_Shantz?) me either way. Good for them, good for their fans, and I will give them a listen on the live broadcast as my only other choice is to turn off the TV.

Everyone's taste in music is different, that doesn't make it right, wrong, bad or good. It doesn't matter what artist they put there because it's 100% guarantee that not everyone will be happy with it. Who cares, this is about the game not the music.
That whole "Fantasies" album is one of the only albums in recent years that I can actually say I like every single song on it. I think I heard it is the #1 selling independent album ever.
This.
I do take aim at Emily Haines for being one of the laziest live performers I've ever seen though.
I've seen Metric live three times, and the first time she was really good. The second time she spent what seemed like half the show just ####ing around with instruments, was barely moving on stage. The final time she didn't move at all and sounded terrible.
I know it might be the end of the tour, but come on. People are paying to see you, you can at least hit the notes.

I think it is dependent on the amount of drugs in her system..
She can't over or under-shoot..
