I have an opportunity to borrow DVDs of the 4400 and The Shield. I read on here that folks think the Shield is really good but what about the 4400? Is it worth my time?

My new favorite show that is CURRENTLY on tv is Shameless with William H Macy and Emmy Rossum. Very funny and raw. They hold nothing back. The title is fitting.
And a naked Emmy Rossum doesn't hurt either.
Waiting for these shows to come back. And in order of anticipation
Breaking Bad....eagerly
Mad Men
Entourage....final season
Dexter
Treme....never got the credit it deserved, but it's a great show
Walking Dead
Sons of Anarchy
Spartacus
Big Brother...fav summertime guilty pleasure
True Blood....not sure I even like the show anymore, I just figure I will see it out
Shows that have finished that are definitely worth a watch....in order of awesomeness
The Wire and The Sopranos
The Shield
Six Feet Under
Deadwood.....god i miss that show
The L Word....judge me all you want....i loved that show

I just started watching six feet under and soon Deadwood. I hear good things about these shows, hopefully I will like them.
Also another great show IMO was Party Down. It only lasted 2 seasons but I found it to be quite funny.

I'm still on the fence about Shameless. Something is just off about the show. I know it's supposed to be kooky, but it still hasn't captured my attention the way Dexter and Breaking Bad (especially) did.
Maybe it's also because I don't find any of the characters particularly likeable. Well actually, I like the eldest son (can't remember his name, I've missed the last few episodes). Pip? Kip?

I enjoyed the few episodes of 4400 I saw, however I only saw 5 or 6 and I thought the concept was getting tired.

Lip.
The shows I am currently watching on TV are: Californication, Shameless, and Skins. Spartacus just ended. And I am looking forward to Nurse Jackie and to a lesser extent United States of Tara later this month.

anyone here ever watch 'Durham County'? A somewhat creepy, fairly suspenseful Canadian drama. I quite like it.
It seems to me to be fairly misandrist, but that's what makes it intersting. Apparently the entire production/writing crew is female, and they've inverted the formulaic murder mystery to critique gender relations and the stereotypes of the genre (at least, that's my 'take' on the show). Very enjoyable, though it's a little uneven at times. Good acting for sure. I'd recommend it if you liked 'Harper's Island' and that kind of fare.
Also the final season of 'Friday Night Lights' was very good. Didn't quite reach the heights of season 1, but still great television. Probably one of the most poignant series ever made.

I was browsing metacritic for new shows a few weeks ago, and decided to start watching Men of a Certain Age, which features Ray Romano.
I was mildly interested after the first episode, and it just kept getting better. Even though it's a show about guys in their late 40's/early 50's, and I'm half that age, I find it hilarious. Worth checking out for sure, and for the record, it's nothing like Everybody Loves Raymond.

Yeah, Lip is probably the best. But to be honest, I'm really into the show right now. I think Emmy Rossum has done a great job with her character and showed a different side in the last episode. It was great stuff.
You compare it to Breaking Bad and Dexter, I don't think that's fair whatsoever. Totally different shows and yeah, Shameless didn't have that ONE BIG MOMENT that had me hooked, it was more of a slow and gradual process, but when I get home from work on Monday night, the first thing I do is watch Shameless. I'm totally into it and it's been a real pleasant surprise.
Hope the ratings are good enough to be picked up for more seasons.
Rossum and Macy should be up for Emmys this year IMO. Rossum especially. She steals the show.

Really enjoyed the premiere of Breakout Kings on A&E. Very well done and reminded me a bit of Wanted that was cancelled way before it's time.

I just started Treme and am really enjoying it. A TV show built around music and a catastrophe......interesting combo. Some really good characters and solid writing make it very watchable.
I'm also going to suggest Weeds, although only the first 3 seasons are truly awesome. It just gets kinda silly after that.

Started watching Party Down, it got cancelled after two seasons since most of the cast ended up on other shows, but it has it's niche audience and awkward moments. worth entertaining if you're looking for another comedy.

Shameless is definitely turning around for me. The past few episodes have done a much better job of developing the characters and making each one have a deeper story. Joan Cusack in particular is growing on me.

I just finished Season 2 of Mad Men after picking it up again last week. Great show, but very little rewatch value. I had already seen half of the second season, but watched it over again to remember what happened. It didn't have the same intrigue. The last half, which I hadn't seen, was great.
Onto Season 3.

So its finals time, and of course im an awesome procrastinator. I just happened to stumble on this pretty funny show called The League, based around 5 guys and their fantasy football league.
Has anybody else seen it or have any thoughts on it?
