When they return you will get their points (where you had them ranked originally) from that show going forward.
GreenLantern - Is your question aimed at the pool or Survivor in general. I assume only 1 person will eventually go back into the game. At that point I don't think Redemption Island will be in play anymore. Just a guess.
Both... but the fact that they sent someone there so early tells me that it will be more than one merge.
They aren't going to make someone, potentially, sit there for 20 days.. or however long the merge is. That is assuming they win all the duels.

TBH Redemption Island is nothing really new. In Pearl Islands they had the Outcasts tribe, a group of people that were bound together because they all got voted out. In a 3 way challenge the outcasts beat both tribes and voted in Burton and an older women whose name I cant remember but she seemed like a "Jill or Jane" or something
I feel that once you fall behind in this pool, it's virtually impossible to make a come-back. I was trying to figure out why but I can't give an actual reason, it's just a gut feeling.

Near the end of the game some people will be getting 20 points where others will be getting 50-60. Thats when the standings will really start moving. It is at that time where your rankings are really going to determine your weekly points and you will see some big moves in the standings I really really like this format. Im interested in who gets voted out every episode instead of the random people the draft got me stuck with.
On a side note, I had russell really high, I think that tribel is going to hurt for awhile.
I am dropping in the standings faster than fotze's Moms panties at an all you can eat pancake house.

Ugh my random Top 3 of Russel, Krista and Stephanie was so fluky that I picked the girls Russel would take to the top but now im going to be hurting big time, especially if Stephanie gets voted out next for being assosiated with Russel.. shes not helping her case threatening them. I think my best case scenario is for robs tribe to lose the next immunity to buy Stephanie and Russel some time to get back in the game.

Yeah losing top players early really hurts as you stop getting "big points" early. However in your case if you remaining top 4 - Ashley, Grant Rob & Stephanie actually get to the final 4 you will be making huge gains while others will suffer. It kinda does balance out in the end.
It may not be perfect but I a couple years ago I tried to come up with an office pool that makes every week a bit more exciting rather then just hoping your 1 or 2 players (picked in a random selcetion order) avoid elimination. This is the best I came up with so far.
I am starting to think about making someone on Redemption worth 1/2 of thier points as the are truly not eliminated yet.
