That is no reach Tyler. Your logic for flu vaccinations is completely faulty. I suggest your read this book.
Except it isnt...
But believe whatever you want, i wont get the flu shot, i haven't been sick with the flu in like 10 years, maybe longer. I dont see the need to sit around with a bunch of potential sick people just to get a shot that i feel may or may not help me out.
Feel inclined to get the shot but you wont convince me.
Don't go against the masses Tyler. Especially on CP, they will crucify you for speaking outside the norm.
I never got the swine flu vaccine. Laughed at ppl lining their kids up to get them injected with mercury. I just used antibacterial cream a few times a day and I was golden. &%$# flu vaccines. Swine flu was just fear mongering just like West Nile and all that crap.
This is all my opinion of course. Calm yourselves.

You don't even need an expensive book, just watch Sesame Street!
Go to 41 seconds for the important part.

It's not "getting crucified" for speaking outside the norm, it's being taken to task for fallacious reasoning. But if one doesn't recognize the fallacious reasoning in the first place, one might see it as just speaking outside the norm.
There's no virtue in going against the masses, no one is special just because they hold an opinion. What matters is is the opinion valid.
A position based on flawed reasoning may in fact be accurate, but a clock without a battery is also accurate a few times a day... Being right for the wrong reason is worse than being wrong for the right reason.

And yet every single day you consume a compound that is comprised of an explosive metal and a highly toxic gas that can cause death with only a few breaths and that causes a metal eating corrosive acid to form in the lungs.
You do realize that the properties of an element and the properties of a molecule that includes that element are wildly different right?

Sure, opinions are like belly buttons.. everyone has one, congratulations on having one, and opinions are about as meaningful as belly buttons too.

"Willy-nilly" application of antimicrobials and antibiotics is actually a really bad thing to do. In the end, all you're doing is aiding in the creation of a "super bug" that could well end up being resistant to anything we've got. That's a big problem; a real problem. An example is a new E. coli O157:H7 strain that is resistant to most modern drugs. Doctors actually had to treat it with old drugs that are no longer commonly used to have any success of clearing infection.
I find it bothersome when people call these pandemics "scare tactics", or "big pharma money grabs". Everything has to be a conspiracy theory, when in reality there many people world wide who have dedicated their lives to study human pathogens, and find ways to protect people from them.
There are so many circumstances in our modern society that have left us ripe for a deadly pandemic, and we are woefully unprepared for it. It is only a matter of time, and people really should take pause to consider that these programs exist to benefit them.

Are you retarted? Is that what i said at all? Did i say that no one should take them? NOOO.
I stated my own opinion that i think they are dumb, i dont believe they work 100% and i think there are a lot of other ways to avoid getting the flu than getting an injection. Its all MY OPINION, and guess what... its based upon my own life experiences, if i got the flu now i would be more inclined to get the shot. But as it stands i am not convinced it does anything.
I might be slightly ######ed, but I don't think you'll have a problem understanding me.
You said that immunization is "dumb" and that you haven't had the flu in 10 years without the flu shot.
So what exactly is dumb? that you haven't had the shot and haven't had the flu? Do you think that somehow that discredits the flu shot or any vaccine for that matter?
No? If not then maybe consider the idea that you lack the necessary knowledge and skills to make a valid judgment in the area.
This is something most of us do every day, everyone has areas where we don't have the necessary knowledge or tools to be competent, that's just a reality in the world we live in... individuals know lots about some things and nothing about others.
Sodium is a metal that reacts explosively with water. Chlorine is a toxic gas that if inhaled can kill you (partially by creating hydrochloric acid in your lungs). But put those two together and you get common salt, which you consume in quantities thousands of times larger than the amount of mercury in a vaccination each day.
So before just thinking "mercury in vaccines, mercury bad", appreciate that the mercury in vaccines (if any) is bound up in a molecule, not just raw mercury, and that it will likely have very different properties. And that the benefit or harm of a substance can change depending on amounts, a little arsenic is good for you, lots, not so much.

By the way there is a big difference between not wanting to get the flu shot over apathy, calculated risk factoring, laziness, time/money, inconvenience, etc..
The reason Tyler and a few others here are being challenged is because of bad information and outright incorrect statements which are the bane of those of us who seek to educate and inform people about science.
I'm not going to get upset if you don't get a flu shot, I usually get mine but there's been years when I don't. I do it because I'm around kids and elderly family, those people are the ones at risk and I'd like to do my part for them.
Mind you after hearing the horror stories of the h1n1 last season and how it took healthy people right here on CP down for 1-2 weeks, I'll get it next season too. Sorry but when people tell me they were absolutely dead to the world for up to 2-3 weeks because of a flu, that's when I'd rather do what I can to protect myself.
h1n1 wasn't over-hyped, it wasn't a cash grab and all the nonsense you uninformed people suggest it was, ask any immunologist worldwide what they are most worried by and h1n1 is said to be a hint of what could be to come. I'm very glad we have a worldwide community of people working to combat potentially lethal strains, not because of the number of deaths we save, but the overwhelming of health care systems.
People only seem to focus on deaths when it comes to especially worrisome strains like h1n1, and don't factor in the strain on the health care system and for business the sheer amount of lost work hours.

I think everyone who died from either of those ailments would love to argue that, but they can't because they're dead. I'm also sure that they would have gotten any sort of vaccine to prevent their deaths as well.
This is the problem with some people, they call it fear mongering if you try and warn them about it. Then they'll get equally mad if they aren't warned about it.
If anyone here is worried about mercury, please stop eating all fish. An average 8-ounce serving of fish will generally contain as much mercury as any mercury-containing vaccine.
It is idiotic to think that it will cause any harm to you in a vaccine as opposed to in fish. Also, mercury has been used in vaccines since around the 1930s, so to all those who believe there are no long term studies done on mercury in vaccines. Please do your research before jumping to conclusions.

People die from a lot worse/dumber causes than the flu.

Wow, you can't win here eh? What did you do to infuriate everyone so much? He's entitled to his opinion folks. He's not that far out of line with the flu shots IMO. I do believe that the swine flu was a lot of fear mongering. There are suggestions by doctors that the swine flu did not kill people at a rate any higher than the normal flu. It was just the fact that it was so contagious and was a heckuva of a nasty bout. I had that stupid thing for almost three weeks. However, there are dangers to getting the flu shot as well.
