Not directed at you a all, it was directed at redneck.
BTW I had the exact same f'n ticket last year. It was too cold to put the sticker on at the time, so I figured I do it when I got home. Totally forgot it was in the glovebox, and got nailed 4 months later. Wasn't happy, but the rules are rules.

How do you not put the sticker on your license plate as you have it in your hand, walking out of the registry office... Towards your car?

Kind of a wild statement. I find our justice system gives repeating criminals too much leniency and throws the book at regular people that make mistakes.
I have never had the police help me when needed and I have had multiple problems with just being pulled over or pulled aside while not doing anything. I also find that if I see a cop I think that they are coming to give me crap, no matter what the situation is.

Some people get it in the mail. Also you would like to put it on a clean, dry surface at a reasonable temperature.

We don't see any changes in our insurance until the 3rd offense per driver, doesn't matter if you lose demerits or not.

I understand the mail dilemma.
But otherwise, registration offices usually go as far as to give you paper towel to clean off the spot, and I've done it in -30 temp and never had an issue with it... That's why I ask

Probably the fact that without police, any sort of law enforcement would pretty much impossible and society would have degraded into a Mad Max type situation over the last hundred years. So unless your life goal is to become the Thunderdome Champion then the police probably have bettered your life in some way or another every day.
Ok, maybe not that extreme but the point is the same.

Do you drive on public roads? If so the police, and the enforcement of traffic laws, are at least partially responsible for the fact that you can do so without having to negotiate a Indian style traffic nightmare.
Do you own property? The fact that people can't simply come and take it from you is at least partially due to the presence of a law enforcement regime that threatens consequences for such actions.
Basically, if you operate within society in anyway you are at least partially reliant on law enforcement to enable you to do so.

I think that depends on what you mean by 'hate cops'. People that rant on and on about how all cops are scum etc. are likely either one of the people you listed, or just your general screw loose types. However, there are a lot of people who have issues with law enforcement that do't have anything to hide, don't have records, and have legit reasons to have gripes.

Do they get the sticker mailed directly to their glove box, or do they have to carry it to their car, past their licence plate and put in the glove box themselves?

First off, I agree with the majority in that I would probably be thankful not to get both tickets and just pay the fine. That said, it really depends how you value that money and the time it would take you to fight the ticket.
As for the cop, he could have given both tickets, just the speeding ticket or none. In his mind not giving the speeding ticket was doing you a favour. That could be because he wanted to write the bigger ticket or because in his mind the demerits are worse then the money. Who knows? I have no issues with cops because like any other job, there are people that do it well and people that do it badly. For me it's no different then any other service I get. When I get someone that does there job badly, I'll gripe and complain and hope to not deal with the person again. When I get someone that does their job well, I would like all people in that position to do the job that way. Like food service staff or sales people there will always be good and bad. Cops just have higher profile work then some of your other service jobs. That and you rarely deal with the same cop twice.

I don't get why the sticker was in the glove box for "months". I can understand a few days. Maybe a week or two. But eventually everyone washes their car, right? How, in the span of months, could there not have been an ok time to put one sticker on a license plate?
I got that ticket before. Can't remember if it was the very day (night) just after midnight, or the day after. Either way, it was April 1st or 2nd, at 2am, and my registration expired at midnight on March 30th, and even though I had the sticker in my glove box, I got a ticket. And he made me put the sticker on, right then and there. No sympathy for me that the roads were a slushy mess. Had to use the cuff of my jacket, clean off the corner of my plate, and stick that sumbitch on there before he let me continue on my way.
Did I learn my lesson? A couple years later, as Mike Weir was winning the Masters on a playoff, I looked out my apartment window and saw my truck getting towed for the exact same thing. According to Wikipedia, that was April 13th. 13 days! Lol. Let's just say that I now buy my sticker on the first of March, and I make damn sure I find a good time to put it on before 11:59 on March 30th.

It's been like 10 minutes and nobody reminded me that there's 31 days in March.

I had him on ignore for a while but he is far too entertaining to keep there... between this and the vaccination thread, I might pay to read his "brilliant" posts.

If there were no police around, knowone could put me in jail for defending my property with potentially lethal force. Problem solved.
9 times out of 10 people need a motive to commit a crime, the entire nation is not chomping at the bit to go on a crime spree and only hold back because of the presence of police officers.
Police today mostly give out tickets and respond to domestic arguments while real crime like hard drug trafficking, organized crime and fraud continue to thrive.
There are some good hard working cops out there, but they are there to follow orders and nothing more. It doesn't help that buried in their ranks is a bunch of tits who harrass people and end up on youtube.
It is what it is. I know cities and police departments are always looking for more funding so this is what we get.
