Totally. And where are the complaints about the price of Flames tickets? And has anyone tried to buy fresh strawberries lately? The prices are outrageous!

Yeah, and if you don't like the GST, don't buy anything. Problem solved.

I'll still take cabs but the tip is now the "surcharge", and the cabbie can enjoy paying taxes on his tips. I'm sure he'll love that.

In a few months they'll probably apply to rescind the surcharge, claiming that it increases waiting times.

I dont really understand this 3 dollar late night fee...if people have to pay 3 extra dollars..arent they more likely to take that money out of the cabbies tip..

Why dont you give me $5??? you can afford it.

Regardless of how much it is, its a raise in fares that has NO basis.
Alot of companies pay extra for employees working late night as an incentive. We live in a pseudo capitalism society, maybe a higher average fare will give other cabbies more incentive to change their working hours from the airport to downtown shift to the I am so drunk I pissed on the side of a building shift.

what do you mean? im not that far from you and the cab fare to and from the airport, on several occasions, over several years, has always been about ~$20 for me, last time at the beginning of december it was $23.

There is a hard cap on the number of taxis in Calgary. That alone favours suppliers at the expense of consumers (assuming the cap is reached, which it is), and increasing prices only exacerbates that.
